Austria announces a lockdown and vaccination mandate for all
Austria will go into a nationwide lockdown on Monday and impose a coronavirus vaccination mandate in February, Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said on Friday. It is the second such lockdown in a European nation since the spring after Latvia imposed similar restrictions last month, and the first national vaccine mandate to be announced in a Western democracy.
Emphasis on "Western Democracy" - That such is even possible makes me think of the start of Austrofascism in 1933 - and what happened after should be well known to anyone that hasn't slept through history classes.
While researching various topics, googling Imbeciles and Government, I came across some interesting definition - published in 2015 it concerns the army in Austria, but these days, it would certainly be fitting for the Government: Austrian word of the Week – C80
C-Achtziger: C-Eighty –Imbecile – C80 is the code used by the Austrian military for someone who is ineligible to serve due to feeble mindedness.
So then I thought: why not indefinite?
Should our Government here in Austria be at a loss how to proceed further, then all they would have to do is look at our Kangaroo cousins in Australia:

Gibraltar has cancelled official Christmas celebrations despite its high vaccination rate and relatively low number of infections.
Of course this line from the Standard is total bunk when one checks the actual numbers - on the same page it says:
Gibraltar has seen cases increase with 66 new daily infections reported on average - equivalent to 52% of its peak in January.

Putting this together took me almost the whole afternoon - the news about it is just rolling in from all sides.
Desperation time! Comparing to such "shining examples" of democracy as Turkmenistan and Indonesia!
Austria, a countrry of 8.99 million, is currently experiencing a severe fourth wave of the pandemic with the seven-day incidence over new cases per 100,000 inhabitants stands around 1,000 according to current data.
Around two-thirds of Austria's population is fully vaccinated which is among the lowest rates in western Europe. Demand has increased in recent days after an initial lockdown just for the unvaccinated went into effect earlier this week. Also earlier in the week, Vienna became the first in the EU to begin vaccinating children ages five to 11. Schallenberg placed the blame squarely on the unvaccinated Friday saying they were responsible for an "attack on the health system" and calling vaccines the "exit ticket" out of the pandemic.
Last week I observed one of the Christmas Markets in Vienna being put together, then the announcement that it will be barricaded and only vaccinated or recovered people will be allowed to enter (the so called 2G rule) - and now? All closed down until December 12th - but I have premonitions that the crazy is just beginning (see my blurb about "Imbeciles" further up) and there will be further news from a "concerned" Mayor of Vienna. So much for Christmas Markets:

For now, I will quit and start my supper - having had a late breakfast that I almost puked up again after getting all this news!
