While trying to complete her work for the company she can't help but think they may have overlooked her. Everyone else has these mini computers that are the size of a deck of cards. They're silent too. Meanwhile hers sounds like a jet engine each morning she comes in and boots this beast up.
The noise of the hard disk spinning is very grating. For some reason there is an odd pitch coming from the disk and the clitter clatter of heads seeking data is irritating. Maureen knows there are disks which are silent too.
Secretly, she wants to spill her coffee all over the machine and tell a white lie about how it happened. I just showed up one morning and it was like that would be a great excuse. I wonder if the higher ups will believe this?
Her colleagues always crack wise with funny quips that she should come in wearing acid washed jeans and teased up hair. She laughs along and will get them back them back one of these days. A wicked computer related retort is brewing inside her and will get them good.
