A study published in ACS Journal of Physical Chemistry B reveals that undoubtedly, healthy DNA has the ability to recognize similarities in foreign DNA from a distance and can then be linked without a real physical connection. To make it clearer, imagine people with similar tastes, interests, hobbies or careers have inexplicable attraction among themselves without having any knowledge of it or have done any effort.
The ability of DNA to recognize similar chemical sequences puzzles scientists. Previously, it was thought that in order to obtain such a thing, additional molecules or chemical signals should be present, but in the new experiments no such elements were used. Still, nobody knows how DNA links communicate with each other, but the phenomenon has caused a lot of discussion in the scientific circles.
Leading authors of the study are Jeff Baldwin, Sergey Leikin, John Seddon, and Alexi Kornyshev. According to them, "the forces responsible for recognizing foreign DNA can operate more than one nanometer distance from each other."
