I used to think stories like this only happen to online people until it happened to me.

I met my husband four months before our wedding.

Four months felt short, but everything about him felt certain.

Whenever I tried to get close to him, he would gently pull away and remind me that God was against fornication. He said we should wait until after the wedding. That after we were married, we would have all the time in the world.

I was happy. Deeply happy.

I remember thinking, “I didn’t know men like this still existed.” I trusted him completely.

Then came the wedding.

It was the talk of the town. Classy. Elegant. Loud in the best way. From the decorations to the chairs, the canopies, the VIP tents, the food, the meat, the drinks—everything spoke money, taste, and intention.

My wedding dress fit me like a dream. His suit sat perfectly on him. The caliber of people that attended, the cars that filled the compound—everything looked exactly like the future I thought I was stepping into.

That night, after the wedding, I had my bath and lay on the bed. Calm. Excited. Patient. This was it. I was finally going to be with the only man I had given my heart to.

He stepped out to settle a few things that ended up taking longer than I expected but I was calm and hopeful.

When he finally came in, I moved closer to him. I reached out but he gently pulled off, stopping my every move.

He said he was tired from the whole wedding stress and needed rest.

I understood. It was a long day after all. So, I let him have as much rest as he wished.

The second day came with the same excuse and by the third day, restlessness settled in my chest.

We had been married for three whole days, yet nothing had happened. We have not consummated. Not because I didn’t want to, but because he keeps giving excuses.

Ah!

I started asking myself quiet questions. Questions I didn’t want answers to.

My mind first went to my chief bridesmaid. She had followed us home and stayed around. I have heard stories of friendships that crossed boundaries after weddings.

But she had been my best friend for years and had also been genuinely excited about my marriage.

Still, doubt crept in so much so that I made sure she left that day.

But nothing changed.

By the fifth day, I stopped trying. I started observing.

That morning, I told him I wanted to go to the market. I was bored and restless. I needed to cool off. He gave me money, generously, like he always did.

When I returned, I noticed something unusual.

My husband was happy. So happy that hope rose again in me. I tried one more time to reach him but ended up walking out of the room with a cold face. I was disappointed once again.

A few minutes later, I went to the restroom to ease myself and that was when I saw it.

A CONDOM!
Right there in the toilet bowl.

My heart dropped.

So this was it.

I rushed out, ready to confront him, but something stopped me halfway. I went back into the rest room, flushed it away, and swallowed the ache in my chest, pretending to have seen nothing.

The next day passed quietly. Nothing happened.

Then I told him I wanted to visit my mother the next day. He looked relieved and gave me some money to buy things for her. Little did he know it was a plan. I was never going to visit my mother. I was going to spy on him instead.

I left the house at exactly 7:41 am. Two hours later, I returned because I wanted to know how this condom came into the house.

This time, I was careful. I hid within the compound, somewhere close enough to hear but far enough to remain unseen.

Not long after, the gate opened. It was his best man. The same man who had stood beside him on our wedding day.

I moved closer to the window. What I heard next felt like a blade to my chest.

Soft voices. Familiar voices. Words of longing. Confessions of missing each other.

Ah!

I leaned closer, then I heard sounds of pleasure, that made the truth unavoidable.

Then I looked in through the window and looked out immediately with my mouth wide open, my eyes almost coming out of its socket, and my heart beating faster like I just ran a 100m race. I couldn't believe what I just beheld.

My husband plunging his penis into his best man's anus. Passion in his eyes as he mourned in pleasure. His whole body vibrated in longing.

Oh no!

I thought I was dreaming until I moved my trembling body into the room that everything became clear

My husband was gay!

The best man scrambled to leave. My husband apologized. Words poured out, but none of them reached me.

I cried quietly.

That evening, I packed my belongings and walked out of his house and never returned.

Lessons

Not every “holy” man is holy.
Sometimes, waiting is not discipline—it’s delay tactics.

If this didn’t happen to me, I wouldn’t believe it.

What would you have done in my situation?
