This barn is one of the ones that was photographed early in my project and while I was caring, intensely, for my elderly parents, and thereby failed to properly document exactly where it is located. It was one of those situations where I thought surely that I'd remember, and then promptly forgot. I made several trips recently back to the general area where I think this barn might be, went down several rambling country roads, but could not relocate it. I hate that, but such happens when one snaps a pic while one's life is chaos.
Based on the length of the barn and the row of ventilation windows near the top of the wall, I'd guess that this barn was for keeping livestock safe and warm at night or in cold weather. I can imagine dairy cows or horses in there, munching on hay until they're allowed back into the green pasture. If anyone on a farm knows better than me what purpose this type of structure serves, please let me know!
The rust pattern on the roof is curious, how it comes down in three strips from the apex of the roof, with two un-rusted strips in the middle. I can't quite figure out how that happened!
I do wish I could remember exactly where in Anderson County, SC, this barn is located. Perhaps one day when I am down that way again (which isn't often), I will keep my eyes peeled for it!
🔸 UPDATE:
I finally found this missing barn and learned why I had difficulty relocating it! It was hiding behind another barn (020), a row of trees that has been planted beside the roadway as well as other trees on the property! With the growth of all those trees, there were only a couple of brief spots where it is visible now. It was good that I got the photo when I did! The following is a copy of the updated satellite imagery with the location marked, showing its location behind Old Barn 020.
