You are a good writer. A really good writer. Every writer has to follow her/his muse. However, there are platforms that are appropriate for different types of writing. The Ink Well has an essentially nonviolent culture. While the community does accept short stories that refer to violence or may indirectly deal with violence, we specifically ask writers not to offer stories that contain graphic violence. Here, for example, is an excerpt from our Manifesto

No hate posts or posts depicting violence against women, children or animals. We also ask that writers avoid gore, brutality and highly violent scenes. The Ink Well welcomes all genres, but we draw the line at brutality, rape, gore, gratuitous violence and excessive blood. Do not post stories with these themes in The Ink Well.

Here are two excerpts from our Rules:

However, we ask that you avoid excessive gore and violence

and

No brutality of women, girls, children or pets, and no excessive violence, blood or gore.

Since you are a good writer, you probably can write this story without the graphic violence. However, that may not be the way to fully explain your character's motivation, so you probably want to include the graphic scenes. In that case, we cannot curate the story. Most stories with this kind of violence are muted in the community. That may ultimately be the fate of yours. No disparagement intended.

Please understand our curation team is quite small. None of us want to read stories that feature graphic violence, and we read everything that is posted here.

We welcome stories from a writer who can evoke a scene and craft a character as you can. But please, if you submit a story in the future, read the rules and try to respect the sensibilities of the curators and the community.
