An interesting tale, Blessworld. It is unusual for a king to select his heirs based on whether they can dance or not, so that was a unique and creative take on the prompt! I am guessing this led to some rather interesting conversations between the couple when the king discovered talented dancers that he knew could not be his children! It seems though that a sensible solution was found in the end. The only one truly that made any sense; that heirs would be recognised by direct geneology.
You captured quite a few creative aspects of fiction in this piece, though, if the conflict (the arguments between the dancers as to who were the rightful heirs) had been introduced earlier in the piece, it would have had a bit more time to breathe. This would have given more opportunity for greater story development around the resolution of the conflict, and more time for character development, and hence a stronger story arc in the end.
