![]() | Compliscent
Her eyes lit up, and she clicked on the clickbait, which made the underpaid digital marketer give a smug smile behind their screen. One more sucker. |
![]() | The Mysterious Scent of Redemption
In those tumultuous days, I battled demons within and without. My heart had been shattered by the loss of a love that I thought would endure a lifetime. Even though I knew that it was imminent, the pain still seeped into my very being, threatening to consume me whole. Yet, it was in the midst of this turmoil that I discovered a glimmer of hope in a strange but appealing scent that became my anchor. |
| The smell of sea in The Guaira
It's funny how memories as children are bigger than when we see or feel it as adults, perhaps the overflowing imagination amplifies them. As children we perceive reality differently, we have a great capacity to be amazed by the wonders that surround us. | |
![]() | Petrichor
Petrichor is the scent after rain. A pleasant smell that permeates my senses and transports me to other worlds. Worlds that majorly consist of my past, present and future. I love it because of the freedom it brings, the darkness and the long-standing stillness that follows. I hate it because of the voices it carries. Incantations and messy lullabies of a broken past. |
This week there were so many brilliant stories that it was hard to select winners. We'd like to give a shoutout to the following stories :
@inessita with Unforgettable aromas, @dianelson with Essence and @lightpen with Roasting yams for teachers
Our third place winner is , with the story:

With your love you aromatized my cosmos, with skill aforethought and intentionality you filled all of me, my senses, with the most powerful and delicious nuances. You impregnated and imbibed all my organs and tissues, irradiating with sparkles my most sensitive fibers, making your concert of fragrances and imperishable effluvia throughout my existence.
Our second place winner is , with the story:

I remembered the time she came to my house to tell me she had just discovered a new song and she wanted me to listen to it immediately. She played the song until it was all I could dream about. I remembered the time we sat outside her house fantasizing about our future and how our kids would be best of friends. I remembered how much she loved the rain, she'd slightly open the windows to her room when it was raining, to let little drops of water fall on her face, and it wasn't long before I enjoyed doing it too.
Our first place winner is , with the story:
At the university, my second home, the smell of the sea also filtered through the hallways and classrooms. It was located right in front of the coast, offering me a breathtaking view that stretched as far as the eye could see. Every time I stepped out onto the balcony or walked through the gardens, the salty aroma enveloped me, reminding me that the vastness of the ocean was just steps away. It was a vision that nourished my spirit and ignited my imagination, making me feel connected to something greater than myself.
Many people feel that nature revives spirit and soul and have stories to share about their outdoor experiences especially whilst they were on vacation.
This week we ask you to write a personal story about nature or the natural environment.
Tell us about it!
Have fun and good luck! We look forward to reading your stories.
