Highlighting @jennyzee1, with the story:
Looking at the picture of me and my friends, I thought back to the time when we were only teenagers without a care for the world. Back then when we would eat from the same plate, wear matching outfits and even tell lies to protect each other. If the world had crumbled back then, we wouldn't have cared since we had each other to look out for ourselves.
Curator's comment :
jennyzee1 writes a very nicely written and poignant CNF about her group of three friends as a teenager, and how one betrayed the other two. They loved to make music together, but one ended up taking the songs that were mostly written by another girl in the group and joining a band. Years later, when she was in terrible circumstances and needed surgery for her mother, she came back to beg for help from the one who had written the songs, and was by then a nurse. Though the betrayed friend was still angry, she finally relented and made it happen. The story is nicely structured and well told.
Highlighting @lightpen, with the story:
With these selfless assistances, I was able to navigate through the financial requirements of the funeral and also paid my school fees before the expiration of the deadline given by my university.
Curator's comment :
Lightpen does a remarkable job of making his heartbreak "felt" in this sad CNF about losing his father. Lightpen's dad had been given the runaround by health officials until it was too late to do anything other than amputate his leg. Lightpen's family did not have the money for the operation, but were, miraculously, saved the expense by a "Good Samaritan." Sadly, Lightpen's father died before he could receive treatment, but the money donated literally saved his family. A really sad story, well told!
If you turn the tables on someone, you change the situation completely, so that instead of them causing problems for you, you are causing problems for them.
