When is the best time to take a break? For myself, I like to take a break before I start. Not a joke there. In any place I have worked. I have always arrived 30 - 15 minutes early. This allows me to have a cup of tea and a snack before I begin work and still leave plenty of time to reach my work station.

I guess I take a break between travel and beginning work.

I don't think that could be considered a well deserved break.

So let's get on to the well deserved break.

I played bouncer for a few years. Now looking at me, you would not think I was bouncer material. 5.6 and look like a fart would bowl me over. For what ever reason though. The club was always better behaved than the nights I was not there. Less fights the nights I was there.

Now I never stood all night at the entrance to the club. My job was to observe from inside, spot and prevent trouble from starting.

This particular time started of just like any other Thursday. Thursday was the quietest of the four nights the club opened. Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday nights.

The club was no where near capacity. Probably 60% - 70% of what the club could hold easy. The club had only been open about an hour, when the signs of some trouble began. Clondalkin group of lads. Well known to myself came in. Not bad lads when sober, but wasters once a few beers get inside. Promptly they were told. One beer lads and your gone. A bit of blah blah nonsense, but they left with no trouble.

By the time 11.30 came around the club was hopping with nearly a full crowd.

While touring the club. I noticed a girl crying and being comforted by a friend. Crying girls is a marker for trouble. So I done my enquiries.

It turned out she was dancing on the dancefloor and an assault took place. She could not identify who the perpetrator was. Other than, he might have been wearing a NIKE top. Probably a hundred or so people that could be.

Through the night, the barman received a couple of complaints about being touched/groped by an unknown person on the dance floor.

The night went on and me looking out for a NIKE top. 12.30 I seen an altercation on the dancefloor and made my way toward. NIKE top was in the middle of it. Regardless of if this was the guy or not he was leaving the club. I called, George and Leeroy over. Always better to remove someone with a bit of help.

While escorting NIKE top out of the club. The friend of the first victim I seen, came over and said that's the guy. I left George and Leeroy to escort NIKE top out of the club.

I removed my security T Shirt and went out ahead of George and Leeroy. When NIKE top got out I was there waiting.

Casually I walked up to NIKE top, Grabbed his ball sack and asked. Do ye like it? A bit of a scuffle began and he broke free. By this time a crowd was beginning to form around us. Well I had made my point and was ready to go back to work. As I walked away, a shout screamed look out. I turned to see a fist coming at me. that barely missed. The miss did however put NIKE off balance and a push knocked him to the ground. "Just stay down I said", as he began to rise. A supporting arm kicked out from beneath him as he began to rise. Put him back down. This seemed to be the end of it and people began to disperse from around us.

As I began once again to go back to the club. I heard someone call ne by name. I looked around and seen who it was. Going over to chat for a while, they said no no and pointed along the road. NIKE top was harassing some girls who just let the club. Though this was not in the club. It had all started in the club.

I made my way toward NIKE top again down a bit from the club. He had a young girl against a wall and trying to get his hand up her skirt. Seeing this I just seen red. I do not remember doing this and it is what I have been told I did. This 5 minutes is a total blank to me.

Grabbed by the hair and pulled back. I kicked his knee from under him and he buckled to the floor. Dragged by the hair to the edge of the curb I placed hid right arm from the curb to the road.

Then I jumped on it 3 times and broke it in several places.
Several breaks that were well deserved.
