This is a play through of Pokemon Blue by using RetroArch to emulate the game. I am randomising the Pokemon in areas with similar strength so it isn't completely randomised, while choosing three starters of similar types
With the fresh start in the region of Kanto to embark on the most epic of journeys, one filled with Pokemon and trainer battles, Goliath ends up in Professor Oak's laboratory to have a choice of which Pokemon will be his starter, among the three available.
The options that were available are Growlithe the fire dog and was a solid Pokemon, Poliwag the water tadpole but another solid choice and both of these were so tempting.. but in the end it was Venonat as the choice for a starter.
Goliath's rival who was also waiting for their starter, his name was Hive and he went with Growlithe as the choice which will be trouble later on. Fire burns bugs after all!
They had a battle to test out their starters as they were, Growlithe's bite was ferocious but so was the Tackle power of Venonat which after the roar used did nothing, a critical hit with tackle was enough to finish the job which gained that valuable level up to 6 and an increase in power. The bit of extra money was nice as well.
Going through the grass from his home town of Pallet Town, to Viridian City where he will be able to heal and explore further, he came across two different Pokemon to fight with one being a Jigglypuff while the other was a Diglett and both were defeated for experience.. of course Goliath didn't have any pokeballs anyway to be able to catch either.
Upon arriving in Viridian city, it was straight to the Poke center for a quick heal up of his Venonat. Then over to the Poke mart to get the parcel Professor Oak was waiting on, so it could be taken to him.
Once the parcel was delivered to Professor Oak and Hive came busting through the door demanding to be involved, both were handed a Pokedex to take on their adventures. They were to have fun exploring Kanto finding all the 151 Pokemon while working towards defeating the Pokemon League and becoming the champion.
Hive was determined to be the champion and wasn't going to let Goliath have a town map from his sister, like he thought it would make a difference!
Back through the grass to fight a Pidgey and then another Diglett for the extra experience and gaining level 7. Venonat was getting stronger but some new Pokemon had to be caught before leaving out of Viridian City.. this required Pokeballs of course and a nice bunch were bought in preparation as he went hunting to the East of Viridian City.
The first catch was going to be lucky and a really good Pokemon to get so early on. The first one happens to be a Dratini and while it will take some time to level it and get better moves, well this meant he was off to a really good start.
Now all that was left to do in this area was to gain some extra levels so the trip through Viridian Forest was going to be an easier trip to manage.
Dratini was used at first to do some damage before swapping to Venonat to finish off the Pokemon that Goliath was leveling against. Once some levels were gained, he was confident enough to heal up one more time and then head out to Viridian Forest.
Emulator used: RetroArch with a Gameboy Colour core
ROMS: Pokemon Blue after being put through the randomiser
Saving: (Used for quick loading and for getting back to before I had all Pokemon faint, if I lose and so it is quicker.)
