HELLOO! Today was the day we finally arrived in the Galápagos! Our flight boarded at 12:50, and after about a two-hour flight from Guayaquil, we were officially on our way to the GALÁPAGOS!!!
One thing I hate about airports is security, but today it was surprisingly easy and smooth, which was honestly amazing. The flight itself was super smooth too, so the whole journey was actually really easy.
Once we got on the plane, it finally started to hit me that we were actually going to THE GALÁPAGOS!!! I think it took so long to sink in because it’s just such a crazy thought. Like, we were actually flying to a place I’ve wanted to see for so long, and suddenly it was happening.
When we landed, we grabbed a taxi to our Airbnb, dropped off our suitcases, and immediately went out to explore. Our Airbnb is only about a 10-minute walk from the beach, so we headed straight there.
And the SECOND we arrived, we saw sea lions EVERYWHERE. There were so many of them scattered all over the beach and rocks, including tons of tiny baby sea lions. Some were sleeping, some were swimming around, and others were just completely unbothered by everything happening around them. Seeing them just casually lying around on the beach was so surreal! We had been at the beach for maybe five minutes, and we were already surrounded by wildlife.
What made it even funnier was watching the difference between the tourists and the people who actually live here. The tourists, including us, were taking a million pictures and videos, while the locals were just walking past the sea lions like it was the most normal thing in the world. To them, it’s basically just another day, while we were standing there like, “OH MY GOD, THERE’S A BABY SEA LION RIGHT THERE!”
Anyways, this was an amazing start to our next few weeks, and I’m really excited for everything we have planned!
