Yesterday, the children in the final year of the elementary school took the junior high school entrance exam. The school where I teach is one of our city's favorite junior high schools. So, many parents are interested in sending their children to our school. Not only parents but children are also happy to join our school.
About 500 students are taking the junior high school entrance exam. They will compete for about 150 seats. So, 350 students had to be eliminated from the competition.
I captured the moment using my Nikon D5500 camera. Some students looked severe in answering the questions available. They will be tested in Math, Science, Social Studies, and Religion.
The students who took the junior high school entrance test came from different elementary schools. Not only did they come from public schools, but there were also some from religious schools. In our country, there are two types of formal schools, namely public schools and faith-based schools.
The school where I teach is faith-based. In this school, students learn science, social studies, math, arts, and sports. They will also be equipped with knowledge about the Islamic religion.
Public schools have about 9 subjects, while faith-based schools have as many as 13 subjects. Children have to learn all these subjects. Not all children have the ability to master all 13 subjects. But, at least children know about the basic understanding of each subject.
The education curriculum in Indonesia keeps changing. Sometimes there is a political element in changing the education curriculum in our country. Every time there is a change of education minister, it is almost certain that the education curriculum will also change, as is happening now.
Our school also implements the national curriculum as our Minister of Education prescribes. As a favorite school, our school is also one of the models in implementing the new curriculum.
The junior high school entrance exam is one of the requirements to get into junior high school. We could not accommodate the 500 students who applied if we did not hold the test.
