I wanted to take a hike into Dundas Valley to relax at my favorite waterfall in the area, Tews falls. No doing picture or videos, just relax and have some me time. This changed very quickly!

Spencer Creek runs through the valley and splits into two directions. Tews falls is on the right and Websters falls on the left. Typically I would take the trail on the right side of the creek, all the way to Tews falls. But I decided to take the left side until the split, because that trial is much easier and usually in mid August the waterflow of the creek is so low that it can easily be crossed.

The start of this trail about 100 feet above the creek and after being on it for 5 minutes, another hiker told me that he has never seen the water levels this high in mid summer. I thought it couldn't be that high, we haven't rain rain in the last few days and its not a wet season. When I got to the split I saw heavy rapids and deep water. I was set on Tews falls so I tried to cross the water, made it half way across (more than once at different spots) and had to turn back. The water was waist deep (usually ankle deep) and the rapids made it unsafe.

To my dismay it was now going left to Webstars falls.

As I got close to the waterfall, all that could be seen is a wall of white in the distance. It literally had more waterflow than in the spring! I couldn't believe it!

I pressed forward to a small side waterfall and was confused. It's waterflow was normal for this time of the year.

Two minutes later I was at Websters falls and was blown away! I have explored this waterfall in every season, have gone behind it, seen it from every angle! But have never seen this much water at it.

As I was taking it in, a couple told me that is I climbed about 10 feet up on the side, there was a really cool raindbow!

What an amazing and unexpected find after being bummed out not making it to Tews!
