I've take a lot of pictures to put onto Hive. I don't think you can make an Actifit post virtually every day and no get a lot of pictures on Hive. However, there is always the question of what should I post? I would love to take pictures of my church service but I never have simply because I respect the fact that the other people at church may not want their picture put onto my blog. I often wish I could take pictures of people I've met at different hotels or at the airport but with very few exceptions I don't do it. As much as I wish I could have taken am image of Yuke from the Fairfield in Indonesia I just didn't think it appropriate to ask and absolutely not appropriate to just steal a photo.
Even when I'm just walking my dog and going around the local park there are often people in the background image. Should I just take a photo of myself at the park and who cares about who is in the background? Luckily in Canada the rules of what is allowed and what is not are fairly simple.
So, if I take a picture of myself at a beach and someone is in the background its allowed. Unless they are a minor in which case, probably not.
Then again if I go to the beach with a telephoto lens and decide to take images of women sunbathing that falls distinctly into the creepy / don't do it category.
At least as far as my knowledge of the law is concerned. I'm not a lawyer so I'm not saying it as truth and I'm almost certain laws differ in other countries.
I also like to think that a little common sense should prevail. Do I take pictures of others without their consent? No. Unless their faces aren't seen and it could be pretty much everyone.
I'm thinking of buying some AR glasses. I probably won't because they are getting a creepy connotation from men taking images of them hitting on women and posting video's without consent. If people are uncomfortable with their photo being taken or video's being shown of them....Why would I ever post something like that? It seems very rude
However, I also think I should have a right to take photo memories of myself and post them. If I'm walking down crowded streets in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Alicante, Manila, Surabaya or any other place on vacation and someone is in the background of my shot. I feel perfectly fine posting a picture..unless the person in the background is in an embarasing position. Then again, a little common sense prevails.
There is on edge case where I'm a little torn on what I should do.
Many times when I'm walking my dog I'll see bad behavior from drivers on the road. Or sometimes there are bad behaviors of people in the park. If I catch an image should I post?
Think about it.
If I'm walking across the road in a marked crosswalk with a light saying I have the right away to cross. What if I'm almost run over by someone? It has happened more times than I care to admit. I mean I'm a full grown man with a big dog... I think I should be hard to miss. Should I post or not? It is a public place where anonymity is not reasonably assured so from that viewpoint I should be allowed to post. They are doing something unlawful and I have evidence. Should I be obliged to hide it? Honestly I don't think I should. However, I also realize that I don't want to be accusatory as someone is innocent until proven guilty.
Or how about if I'm walking my dog on a leash and someone decides their dog doesn't need one. It is illegal to walk a dog off leash in the local parks so they are doing something unlawful. They think their dog is fine and that may be, but my dog sometimes gets aggressive with other dogs he doesn't like and will start a fight. Even well trained dogs start to fight when another dog barks at them aggressively.
Should I post pictures showing that I was in the right and that my dog was on leash and couldn't have "started the fight"?
At the end of the day I have to weight my right to post vs another person's right to privacy. I think I like the Canadian laws.
If I'm out in public? Someone captures me in the background of their image? That's just the way things go.
If I'm out in public? Someone captures an image specifically of me and puts a caption "old man walking" I think I would be pretty upset.
A little common sense and a bit more empathy can go a long way when deciding to post. Looking up local laws and regulations may also not be a bad idea. Then again, that's just one man's opinion.

If you read my posts regularly? I wanted to let you know that I'm curtailing my time on Hive. I'll still be posting on occassion but the rewards are so low and I've found that my time is too valuable to me to write on every topic.
Originally I wanted to prove how much someone could make on Hive if they were persistent and engaged regularly. Two years ago the math made sense. One year it it was harder but made sense. Now with crypto being in the dumps for what seems like forever I don't promote Hive as a way to make some extra money.
I still see its benefits for many things. Making income just isn't one of them.
So, for anyone reading my posts, thanks for the attention. I love getting comments but know that I'll be less active than I have been up until now.
