Hello Hivians and all you beer lovers.
Saturday on Hive of course means it's time to write about the good old amber nectar or Beer, except today it isn't amber it is in fact black!
An apt pint and I shall tell you for why
Black Heart
Earlier in the day Mrs T and I were yapping away about something, when she jokingly said I had a black soul, a back heart!
Couple that with Rangers losing this afternoon and there could only be one outcome.
To the fridge I went and poured ....
I have written about Black Heart before and how it tells you to pour it so you have a perfect pint ...
I won't bore you with the details this time except to link it here if you want to read ... BrewDog Scottish Black Heart Beer
But as you can tell from the title of that post Black Heart is from the Scottish brewer BrewDog.
The pouring of the pint was coming along fine...
I just love the creamy foam of a dark beer!
The bubbles have settled a bit and I need to start dinner!
It really is a cracking pint. And ever since I had a coupleofmonths ago I havekept somecans in the fridge for a rainy day so to speak.
This was one of those days!
There is no food shot today @asiaymalay because I drink two cans before I finished cooking. It was a tasty fish and chips dish though.
That was me playing around with google photos and blurring things ...
Food shot
Seeing it is a thick pint, here we go
Cheers to a fantastic community in Hive and a wonderful initiative!
Cheers 🍻
My verdict - Tasty and reliable!
I knew what I was getting and it did not let me down.
Black Heart is a pint that is so fluffing smooth with a creamy texture that trickles down your throat without even trying. You can taste the subtle hints of coffee and rich cocoa too. It is so drinkable and most definitely not bitter!
The deets
Black Heart is brewed by BrewDog who started in Fraserburgh, Scotland in 2007 with James Watt and Martin Dickie Dickie brewing small batches and selling them at local markets. They then moved to Ellon in 2012 and things really took off!
BrewDog claims to be the "world's first carbon negative brewery," stating they remove more CO2 from the air than they emit.
Right enough about them, what does my trusty Gemini AI say about the beer itself!
Note these are summarised from my Gemini AI account.
Characteristics:
BrewDog Black Heart is a 4.1% ABV modern stout crafted to be smooth, creamy, and distinctly dark. Key characteristics include:
- Flavour Profile: It offers subtle notes of roasted coffee and cocoa, often with a hint of caramel. Some reviews also mention a touch of licorice or a smoky twang.
- Mouthfeel: It's described as velvet smooth and creamy, often attributed to the use of nitrogen in the canning process, giving it a "draught-like" experience.
-Appearance: It pours a jet black color with a tan, frothy head that has good retention and lacing.
-Ingredients: It is brewed with water, malted barley, yeast, and hops, with nitrogen added for the smooth texture. Some sources mention the use of extra dark crystal malts to achieve its roasted flavors.
And I fluffing love Black Heart!
