Since the beginning of this week’s edition and the topics it entails, I see that they were basically about the society or environment as the case may be. So, my entry for the last topic for this week will still be streamlined to society. The topic here goes thus…
Week 08 - Edition 03 Topic
”ONE SUPERPOWER”
Hive can be a wild west sometimes, anything can happen. So imagine you can choose a superpower, but you must choose only one so you have to do that carefully. What superpower will you choose? How will you use it? Any plans on doing something special?
From the title of my post here, I believe you may be wondering how it is going totally with the society thingy. Well, follow closely. I have actually been thinking about which kind of superpower I’d want. Indeed, if I am chanced, the number of superpower I want runs in tens. But, one could only choose one. So. for the purpose of this piece here, the one which I’d love to possess is that of a/the CITY HUNTER.
My definition of this is not as the name implies, I got it from a movie that had it as its title. Basically, for most of the movie, it entails a guy who was exposing the misdeeds of politicians or public office holders and gets away with it. Well, if that may be considered a superpower, I’d want to have it.
Since I have come of age, I have seen how things are run in my local society and its dark sides; I have read about the leaders of the past and their misdemeanor as well as the current ones who may have learned from their predecessors and just decide not to correct the wrongs but to elevate their evil deeds. I am sure if those who had come before them saw what has become of the present, they would doff their caps. The way vices such as corruption, for example, are now the norm of the day is just baffling. This is not just in my nation alone, it resides among the international community.
The City Hunter, in the movie, risks his life and through some good friends in key places to get the documents of any misdeed by anybody, acts on it and does the better thing. The thing he does most times was to, after getting the real evidence, submits it to a law enforcement agency. There was a prosecutor there that was incorruptible, such that he’d see the case through. This is where a distinct and scrupulous judicial system comes in.

So, I believe if I have this kind of power to rattle out the bad sides and eggs in the society with the necessary evidence, they would pay for it. And this will serve as a wonderful lesson to others who may want to indulge in such. Because I know that it is due to the fact that the evil perpetrators still roam freely as if they were above the law is why more people are coming into that fold more and more. Change can begin with one of them, just one.
There was an episode in the movie where a man took the money meant for the scholarship for students in a school, I think. Can you imagine? – The man took all the money (in cash) to his house and held it in a separate room! The City Hunter somehow got a hold of the money and sent it to all the students who were the original owners of the money. I know you may say that the Hunter must have his life on the line. But somehow he always escapes, even in the most difficult situation.
I know this kind of life requires one to just be under the hood and be hunted by the bad guys. But I am sure if I possess this power, my country would be a better place.
