Recently, I saw someone's comment about the importance of body language, and how much a pose can tell about a character.
The comment caught my attention, because of how true it is, and yet that is something that I have ignored myself many times.
Thus, I decided to practice a bit.
I am starting off with an easy idea - doodling down 5 members of the same engineering crew.
All of them are side characters from an adventure I have been writing for my friend, but I thought that they fit perfectly, since although they are not fleshed out, all of them have some key characteristics.
Perhaps stereotypically so.
But that's how I decided to build them when I needed to come up with them on the spot.
So all in all, I wanted to draw their lineup, and differentiate between their poses, enough, to give the viewer a general idea of what kind of person each of them is.
In addition to their poses, I tried to introduce some other details that would help read their character - everyone wears their uniform differently.
Short description of each crew member:
Ian is a loudmouth. He's pretty confident and self-centered.
Lucas is very cynical and controlling, he wants things to go his way.
Olivia is headstrong, confident, and defiant.
Dai is silent and composed, he's not too concerned about what other members of his team are up to.
Mirah is very energetic, chaotic, and does not like rules, she wants to slip away from her workplace at any given moment.
Can you tell who is who, based on my sketches? Well, I hope so.
