The sky was slightly bright and mist covered the atmosphere. Birds could be heard chirping and owls hooting, squirrels squeaking as they all hurried out of their homes for their day's job.
On the street of Brooklyn, all the animals scurried the moment a light which wasn't a natural light approached. The squirrel which was about crossing the road ran back down it's hole panting because the light came at full speed.
It was Mr Bernard, he had an early morning interview to attend to and he didn't want to miss it. He had to take the Brooklyn street route because it was the shortest and free of bumps and potholes though it wasn't so safe.
He drove at full speed so he wouldn't experience any sort of assault on his way. The sky was beginning to brighten up and he thanked his creator for that because he had hopes.
He was beginning to feel lonely as he drove because his car was the only car found on the street so he turned on his radio and the first thing he heard from the news report was "Brooklyn street should be avoided because some assassins have been discovered to pitch their tent somewhere in the woods very close to the bridge".
He turned down the volume of the radio as fear gripped him, he was already a stone throw away to the bridge. He thought of turning back but that was impossible because if he crosses the bridge then he's really close to his destination but if he turns back, then he'll miss his interview.
He placed his feet on his accelerator and a screeching sound could be heard which caused the birds which were on a tree to fly away in total confusion. He just made a fuss but didn't regret it.
He was on the bridge and there he met a huge barricade which if he didn't slow down the speed at which he was driving, would send him to his early grave. He pressed the brake and again the screeching sound occurred as the car came to a halt.
Sweat covered his whole body as huge men got out from behind the barricade and walked up to him. He said silent prayers as he shook tremendously. They got to him and dragged him out of his car as they inspected the car and everything in it.
They were so huge that Bernard couldn't even look at them. They looked so deadly that even their breath could send a little kid to sleep early from fear. Bernard shook as he pleaded that they spare his life. .
One of the gangsters took his wallet and brought out his ID card as he looked closely at it. "so you're not a detective"? He asked with a voice that quaked and sent chills down Bernard's spine.
"How much do you have there?" another man spoke. Bernard was too scared to speak because he didn't want to offend any of them so he just dipped his hands into his pockets and showed them how empty it was.
They scoffed at him as one brought out a gun and pointed it at his stomach with a very stern look and asked him where he was headed.
Finally he had to speak so he could live. He told them he was on his way for an interview so as to be able to feed his poor mother who's been sick for weeks without medication and a proper meal.
They laughed at him and hit him with the gun telling him they weren't interested in his emotional story. They sent him away without his car and his head bleeding.
He was robbed of his car and little cent he had to survive but he was glad he went out still breathing even though he was bleeding. He had to go back to where he came from because they didn't allow him to go over the barricade.
When he got to the head of the street, journalist's were already waiting to hear his story and how he could escape the hands of the deadly assassin's who murdered the most prominent man in the states without thinking twice.
Bernard knew what that meant, he was gonna be rich and famous. A smile beamed on his face and then faded as he approached a journalist to speak about his experience.
