Have you ever been chased by an angry dog that thinks you're trespassing?

Yesterday my paternal aunt invited me over to her house right after I called her to say hello after a very long while. It has been over five years since I last visited her so I thought it was no big deal going there again plus I was super excited because I was sure of returning home with lots of goodies and cash.

I had totally forgotten that she owned a ferocious dog and went over without reminding her that I was on my way. Getting to the street where she lives, the track was long enough for an eight hundred meter race and deserted as only a few people lived on that street so it was very quiet, only the sounds of chirping birds broke the silence.

I walked on happily fiddling with my phone as I moved carefree, not looking ahead since it was a straight road and I couldn't miss my way. On getting to her gate, I took my eyes off my phone to ring the bell and I was welcomed by the growl of a huge high tempered dog. It's drool was dripping to the floor and I knew that I had entered the book of its Chronicles.

The distance between the dog and I was about three feet and I took two more steps back making it five incase I had to take award winning strides. My heart was racing already and my legs were begging me to do the temple run but then I had to be very serious with it as there was going to be no replay if I failed but I had a little bravery left in me and stood back to pet the dog and that was the mistake I made.

I called the wicked animal by its name and it barked loudly taking bold steps towards me while I kept moving backwards. At some point it hastened its steps barking non stop and I hastened mine too. When I couldn't do the backward race anymore lest I stumbled and the crazy beast feasts on my precious leg, I turned 180 degrees and zoomed off, this dog chased me barking as if I had stolen its bone.

Looking at the long deserted street, I kept screaming the dog's name to see if it'll at least recognize my voice(thought all dogs were supposed to be smart)🤦.

"It's been five years, how do you expect such a wild thing that thinks you're trespassing to recognize you.'' came a voice from my mind as I kept running. This temple run wasn't for me, it's been a while since I ran this fast and I'm sure if it were to be a competition,I'd win a gold medal.

The dog was pretty close, I threw my bag and phone away and ran for my dear life. The street was one that could be used for an 800 meter race and here I was taking those involuntary strides.

My heart was pounding and I heard it say to me "if you don't stop running now, I'll stop" what the actual heck? You want to stop? How? I was crying already because the pain in my chest was getting heavier than I could carry.

Miraculously, I saw my aunt's husband drive in and phew when he saw his hot tempered dog, he immediately got out of the car and called it by its name "sit scope, sit!"

I didn't wait to see if it was gonna sit because such dogs could be very stubborn so I kept running. It was when I heard the man calling out to me that I halted and fell to the ground. My chest heaving due to pressure overload. I cursed the dog with every curse word in my head while hot tears ran down my cheeks.

cute but wild

My aunt's husband stood back where he was with his wicked dog laughing. When we finally got to back to his house after I had managed to calm my angry heart for stressing it so much, my silly cousin asked me to go give a testimony in church this was her statement;

"You don't know what the Lord has done for you better go five a testimony". It wasn't funny when she said it but thinking of it now makes me laugh.

Guess what even, my aunt is scared of her own dog talk more of me. I'm glad I survived actually. Phew 🤣.
