En un hermoso bosque vivía Yasmin, una ardilla muy trabajadora y laboriosa, que junto a sus padres se encargaba de recoger nueces y madera para la venta, este era el trabajo de la mayoría de las ardillas de aquel bosque, y la competencia en el mercado era bastante alta, por lo que Yasmin se esforzaba bastante en recoger las mejores nueces y la mejor madera.
In a beautiful forest lived Yasmin, a very hardworking and industrious squirrel, who together with her parents was in charge of collecting nuts and wood for sale, this was the job of most of the squirrels in that forest, and the competition in the market was quite high, so Yasmin tried very hard to collect the best nuts and the best wood.
El horario de trabajo de las ardillas correspondía a una jornada de ocho horas, cinco días a la semana, y con este tipo de horario todas las ardillas tenían dinero suficiente para comer, vestirse e incluso darse un capricho de vez en cuando e irse de vacaciones. Además, con el tiempo libre que quedaba de las jornadas de trabajo, podían distraerse, pasar tiempo con sus familiares e incluso realizar actividades beneficiosas para su salud.
Yasmin no estaba de acuerdo con este horario, es más, nunca lo cumplió, porque ella era diferente y trabajaba siete días a la semana durante doce horas diarias,sin vacaciones, permisos, ni tiempos libres, para ella cada minuto de trabajo contaba y era sumamente valioso, era lógico que ese esfuerzo generara mayores ingresos, pero Yasmin no tenía vida propia, su familia no la veía desde hacía meses y estaba constantemente sola.
The squirrels' work schedule corresponded to an eight-hour workday, five days a week, and with this type of schedule all the squirrels had enough money to eat, dress and even treat themselves from time to time and go on vacation. Yasmin consideraba una perdida de tiempo, salir al parque, de paseo o sencillamente ver una película, ella era una ardilla muy ocupada y dedicaba sus horas a cosas valiosas como el trabajo. Sin darse cuenta, Yasmin estaba cayendo en la avaricia y cada día quería más y más dinero, lastimosamente no había nada que la hiciera feliz, únicamente se sentía contenta al ver que cada vez tenía más.
Pasaron los meses y los años y aunque la familia y los amigos intentaron hablar con ella para que reaccionara sobre su trabajo, nunca escuchó y cada vez se obsesionaba más con trabajar muchas horas para tener dinero en abundancia.
Yasmin considered it a waste of time, going out to the park, for a walk or simply watching a movie, she was a very busy squirrel and spent her hours on valuable things like work. Without realizing it, Yasmin was falling into greed and every day she wanted more and more money, unfortunately there was nothing that made her happy, she only felt happy to see that she had more and more.
Months and years went by and although family and friends tried to talk to her to get her to react about her work, she never listened and became more and more obsessed with working long hours to have plenty of money.
Yasmin perdió los mejores años de su vida, corriendo detrás del dinero, ahora es una vieja ardilla que vive sola en una enorme mansión, sus padres y hermanos se fueron muriendo y los que quedan vivos ni siquiera la conocen por el tiempo que tenían sin verla.
Yasmin no tiene ni siquiera una foto o un buen recuerdo del tiempo que paso junto a sus padres o seres queridos, nunca tuvo tiempo para ellos, para su familia, ni siquiera tuvo tiempo para ella misma, ya que solo corría detrás del dinero, nunca tuvo tiempo para enamorarse o tener amigos.
Hace unos días Yasmin dejó de trabajar porque consideraba que el dinero que tiene guardado ya era suficiente para disfrutar de la vida, pero ya no tiene con quien disfrutarla porque estaba sola, además la vejez ha empezado a pasarle factura, sus patas ya no son ágiles, y su cuerpo se cansa con facilidad, además ya casi no escucha, ahora pasa todos los días sentada en un enorme sofá de la casa.
Yasmin lost the best years of her life, running after money, now she is an old squirrel who lives alone in a huge mansion, her parents and siblings are dying and those who are still alive do not even know her because of the time they had without seeing her.
Yasmin doesn't even have a photo or a good memory of the time she spent with her parents or loved ones, she never had time for them, for her family, she didn't even have time for herself, since she only ran after money, she never had time to fall in love or have friends.
A few days ago Yasmin stopped working because she considered that the money she has saved was enough to enjoy life, but she no longer has anyone to enjoy it with because she was alone, besides old age has begun to take its toll, her legs are no longer agile, and her body gets tired easily, also she hardly listens anymore, now she spends every day sitting on a huge sofa in the house.
Tras varias semanas de descanso, Yasmin comienza a meditar sobre la trayectoria de su vida, sabe que le queda muy poco tiempo, y que la vida se le ha pasado sin darse cuenta, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, todo lo que tenía ya no estaba, incluida su juventud.
Yasmin se lamentaba al ver que ha pasado toda su vida corriendo detrás del viento, la avaricia le hizo segar su corazón y perdió los mejores años de su vida.
Con el paso de las semanas Yasmin muere dejando una gran fortuna, no dejó herederos y tal vez sus primos se lleven parte de la herencia, lamentablemente esta ardilla pasó toda su vida reuniendo riquezas que ella misma no disfrutaría, pasó toda su vida trabajando por algo que no valía la pena, tal vez al final de sus días Yasmin reflexionó sobre la gran importancia de tener una vida sencilla, sin correr tras el dinero y las riquezas, ya que la vida es corta por lo que es mejor pasar tiempo con la familia y seres queridos y comerse un plato de caraotas.
After several weeks of rest, Yasmin begins to meditate on the trajectory of her life, she knows that she has very little time left, and that life has passed her by without realizing it, in the blink of an eye, everything she had was gone, including her youth.
Yasmin lamented that she has spent her whole life running after the wind, greed mowed down her heart and she lost the best years of her life.
With the passing of the weeks Yasmin dies leaving a great fortune, she left no heirs and maybe her cousins will take part of the inheritance, unfortunately this squirrel spent all her life gathering riches that she herself would not enjoy, she spent all her life working for something that was not worth it, maybe at the end of her days Yasmin reflected on the great importance of having a simple life, without running after money and riches, since life is short so it is better to spend time with family and loved ones and eat a plate of beans.
