To the one that got away,

Hi! I never thought I'd be writing you another letter after all these years. It's not that we lost contact, I mean... we're just a message away, right? We've always been that way, so I'm grateful.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank you. You may not know it, but I've always been grateful for meeting you. There might not have been an "us", but at least, we had "you and me together" even though it was short-lasting.

We were still young back then. I was busy with my responsibilities, while you're busy exploring the world. We had it tough, didn't we? Despite wanting to meet again, we just couldn't. I'm sorry for breaking my promise to visit your country and meet you again. I guess things aren't just meant to be.

I know how you've always wanted to have a family. You were so honest every time you told me how envious you are of my family because you've just never experienced the same warmth. I wanted to give you that, but I couldn't. But I think I don't have to worry about it anymore, right? I know I can trust her.

You're now happy with the family you've created, and I could never be happier seeing you living the life you've always wanted to live... even without me by your side.

Thank you for spending time with me back then. Thanks for the fun and chaotic months we spent together while you were still here. Saying goodbye to you that day was the hardest... you may have cried more, but it hit me harder on my way home from the airport. I'm glad my mom went with me that day.

Thanks for teaching me what it felt like to love someone and what it's like to feel special. Thanks for breaking the school rules with me. LOL...

The romantic connection between us may have ended, but know that I'll always be here for you... just like how you've always been there for me. I'm lucky to have met you... and just like you mentioned in your last letter, "It's not that I won't forget you, I just can't."
