Thought I'd Do Some Free Writing And Splat Down Whatever Comes To Mind.

It's been a long and interrupted journey for me on Hive. I discovered the platform just under six years ago and I have come and gone more times than I can count, the thing was I never really knew how to use the platform and along with that I never really knew how to put my content out in-fact I never really knew what content I wanted to put out there...

This seems like a life time ago and it's all irrelevant now to say the least.

One thing I can say for certain is that I'm back now and I am here to stay this time around.

I have mentioned something of the sorts in a few of my previous posts about the platform and I'll say it again. Back then I didn't really care about engagement at all, this was supposed to be a "get rich quick scheme" or rather "make a quick buck scheme." I might as well be honest about that right...

Coming back this time, well I don't really know what changed at all perhaps the idea of just having some Hive felt nice and using the platform felt like less effort or I had something I felt worth sharing.

I have to add that I'm an introvert so sharing things isn't really on the top of my list and especially not on any social media platform, but Hive is different... So very different, I feel like I can share anything without feeling that fear of getting judged at all and it seems like everything I do and everyone I meet has a positive effect. If that even makes sense.

I feel like I can share whatever the hell I want to, where as on FB, INSTA and most of the mainstream social media platform's I'm somewhat limited even though I'm not. Besides they are just filled with negativity.

Since I came back to Hive a few months ago I have noticed a sharp decline in the usage of these mainstream social media platform, along with that a decline in my data usage as well. Hive has pretty much taken over every aspect of my online social status, whether that is good or bad I don't know, I do feel it's for the better.

I like the idea of sharing my journeys and what I do for a living and heck I can even write up some of my gaming experiences. It feels like I'm keeping my brain fed, active and healthy even though I'm still sitting in front of a screen because it's not just an endless scroll of pictures from which I struggle to escape, no I'm consuming value and taking in something that is beneficial to my well being. Or at least I feel that reading is good and boy I do a lot of it on Hive.

This is coming from someone who has always hated reading, I'll be honest I've been somewhat of a fuck up and a rebel my entire life never having motivation for anything or anyone but the last few years I've gotten out of that hole I was in and boy I feel absolutely fucking great! It's still a work in progress no doubt, for a quick example I still have to work on expressing my emotions without having to use swear words but that's not so bad is it. None the less I have to work on it.

Damn I like wandering around in my mind, I actually wanted to talk a little about my experience on Hive, well I have but more so about the money gaining aspect of it.

Nothing on how to gain votes or how to attract followers on Hive just a simple thanks and why I think I've made a few bucks.

So, back in the day when I was going about on Hive I didn't really put in a lot of effort on my posts, I mean I did but they weren't very thought out at all and I don't really want to say that they are now because really I'm just going with the flow of it all, spitting down what comes up in my head but they were just made to get something out there and hope for a vote. Although getting votes does have a nice feeling to it but writing posts just to get votes well that isn't exactly the whole idea behind Hive and I wished I knew that a lot earlier.

I didn't really engage a lot back then, just a simple "Oh this is cool" or "Great Photos" comment on posts that had a lot of effort directed into them. If only I thought to actually read some of those posts and consume the content and sort of have a feel for what that person is feeling when he took those photos or for what he felt was cool.

To be honest it's a hard thing to get used to, it really is... But more than that Hive does actually take up some time and effort but if you're willing to put in some time and effort it gets easier as you go.

I'll take this for example, at the start of the year I decided that I want to post every day for this year. The goal is to get the yearly author badge and the idea came to mind when I was reading a post of tarazkp@tarazkp where he stated that he was one of the few that have posted consistently everyday for a couple of years. (I can't recall how many years, I think it was three. Correct me if I'm wrong) and there came the idea of posting everyday for this year. The thing is I might achieve that goal or I might not, but it doesn't really matter at the end of the day.

One might say it's hard doing this, but really it's not. I'd rather say it's hard being consistent and very few people have the ability to discipline themselves in doing something everyday to achieve an end goal.

I don't always get voted by some curation trail and that's fine, from my point of view getting a lor of votes from a lot of people feels more valuable to me than getting one big vote, why? Because then it actually feels like I've put something of value out there for Hivers to stumble upon and it feels... well I can't really describe it... almost like getting a thousand likes on a tweet.

It feels great but again it's just likes and at the end of the day it doesn't really matter.

It Should Feel Natural, Right?

What I'm trying to say is that Hive shouldn't feel like work, it should feel natural and easy to do but the first thing people try to achieve is getting that hundred dollar vote on a post because that's the first thing they see when logging in. Those high valued posts on trending. But thinking you're going to get that after creating an account is like expecting a baby to run after birth.

It's absurd to say the least, but no offence. I was there myself thinking damn this would be easy! Well nothing of value is easy to obtain and that is a fact. Except oxygen.

I don't really have an opinion but if anyone would care for my opinion it would be to engage a little more with actual value and actual meaning, what I did was handle hive like a little game by building yourself up slowly and before you know it you'll have a few people who give the same value back to you.

I really wish I could meet some of the people that I've met here on Hive in real life. The sad and amazing part of that is that they are spread all around the world. If you told anyone from a hundred years ago that someday people would have friends from all around the world that they've never even met in their life, well they would surely tell you you're crazy.

The Crypto, Well That's Just A Big Bonus!

Honestly I don't have much to say about that.

What I can say is that if I kept all of the earnings I've made from posts and comments on Hive my HP would be more than double what it is now. It's a shame actually.
