Teaching about bitcoin to someone who haven't heard about it once in their life and don't know much about computers and how money works might be a terrible job. It is true that we don't want everyone to be interested in bitcoin but we really want our friends and loved ones to know about it because it has a huge future ahead and the more you know the more easier your life is going to be.
But most of the time they bring headache because they don't seem to understand anything. Questions like "Why we need bitcoin?", "If there is no government controlling then how can it work, they will ban it?", "lol, a computer money! It is not real, money must be real"
How to explain?
First of all trigger the part where they are interested and that is money. Say them bitcoin used to worth $1 a coin this much year ago and now it is $3500 (or so) they will surely be interested to see their money growing. Then show them statements from bigger people like Bill gates, Richard Brandon, John Macafee etc........ this will make them more interested. Then tell some facts like, how much mining power is used to mine bitcoin, how much world is changing because of bitcoin, how other coins like bitcoin solves major problem of the world.
Teach them you can make money with it, then when they are interested to learn more about it then only start explaining about blockchain and ledgers and all other things about how bitcoin works and how will it and is changing the world.
This is my strategy to teach people what bitcoin is. This process takes time so I will only teach about bitcoin to someone with who I will spend a lot of time with. Almost no one here in my country know or are interested to know about bitcoin, I teach only to those people who I thin can understand but most of the time I am wrong, not many are interested to know more.
