There is something special about trying something new, especially when you get to share the experience with someone you love. Sometimes, the happiest memories are not made through grand adventures or expensive activities. They happen inside the kitchen, surrounded by simple ingredients, laughter, and the excitement of discovering something for the first time.
That's exactly how our day went when my niece and I decided to try baking together for the first time. We chose Mini Burnt Cheesecake, a dessert I had always wanted to make at home.
Mini Burnt Cheesecake Ingredients
We prepared the following ingredients:
450 grams cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup white sugar
1 pack (250 ml all-purpose cream
4 pieces eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
We also prepared our muffin tray, cupcake liners, mixing bowls, whisk or electric mixer, spatula, and measuring cups.
Our First Baking Experience
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
We started by measuring all the ingredients and allowing the cream cheese to soften at room temperature. Meanwhile, we preheated the oven to 200°C and prepared our muffin tray by placing cupcake liners in each cavity.
Step 2: Mix the Cream Cheese and Sugar
We placed the softened cream cheese in a mixing bowl and beat it until smooth and creamy. Then, we gradually added the white sugar and continued mixing until well combined.
Step 3: Pour the All-Purpose Cream
We slowly poured the 250 ml all-purpose cream into the mixture while continuously mixing. This ingredient helped make our cheesecake rich and creamy.
Step 4: Add the Eggs and Flavorings
Next, we added the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. We then added the vanilla extract and salt, which gave the mixture a delicious aroma.
Step 5: Add the Flour
We sifted the three tablespoons of all-purpose flour before adding it to the batter. Then, we gently mixed everything until well combined and no visible flour remained.
Step 6: Fill the Muffin Liners
Using a spoon, we carefully poured the cheesecake batter into our prepared muffin liners, filling each one almost to the top.
We tried our best to make every portion equal so our mini cheesecakes would bake evenly. Seeing the tray filled with creamy batter made us excited to see the final result.
Step 7: Bake the Cheesecakes
We placed the muffin tray in the preheated oven and baked the cheesecakes for about 20–25 minutes, or until the tops turned a beautiful golden-brown to slightly burnt while the centers stayed a little jiggly.
Step 8: Cool and Refrigerate
We let the mini cheesecakes cool completely, then refrigerated them for at least four hours. This helped them set and achieve their creamy texture.
More Than Just Baking
When we finally tasted our homemade Mini Burnt Cheesecake, we felt a different kind of happiness. It might not have looked exactly like the cheesecakes we usually see in bakeries, but making it ourselves made every bite special.
Our first baking experience taught us that trying something new does not require perfection. Sometimes, all we need is willingness, patience, and someone who makes the experience more meaningful.
I realized that spending time with my niece is one of those simple blessings I should always treasure. We may forget the exact measurements someday, but I know we will remember the laughter, little kitchen mess, and excitement of waiting for our cheesecakes to bake.
Perhaps this is only the beginning of our baking journey. We still have many recipes to explore and more kitchen adventures waiting for us.
For now, I am happy that our first attempt became a beautiful memory. After all, the sweetest part of baking is not always the dessert. Sometimes, it is the people who share the kitchen with us.
