Wednesday Walk Exploring Fairhaven MA

This post is for the Wednesday walk challenge
Any questions about the challenge? Read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)

Good Morning, I hope your week is going well.

Starting with something aside from my subject for today's walk post, today at 6 PM I will be going to the Cork Restaurant to do a talk to a group called South Coast Places for People. Right now I am wondering why I agreed to do it, but it's good for me to get out of my comfort zone, and it will be cool to see inside the restaurant finally :)

Wish me luck especially since i had a small surgery/procedure yesterday where they balloned my blood vessels and put in another stent, my leg is bothering me a bit this morning, so walking isnt to comfortable, but hopefully it will have eased byt he time I have to head out for the talk.

Today I will share a few photos I took yesterday ( well, yesterday as I write this, a week ago as you see it )

It was a bit cool at sunrise, and the clouds didn't look hopeful for a nice sunrise, so I decided to head out after sunrise and decided to explore some parts of Fairhaven, MA, a neighboring town. I had a couple of things in mind: looking for some fall colors and checking out a couple of spots or buildings that people had mentioned to me.

My first stop was at an area called Marsh Island, it is managed by the Buzzards Bay Coalition, and apparently used to be a spot in bad shape, but they have cleaned up a fair bit of it. It was a nice walk, but not many, if any, fall colors in this spot.

then I walked around some of the streets, and came across this anchor.

This anchor monument is dedicated to Captain William H. Whitfield.

He was a 19th-century New England whaling captain. In 1841, Captain Whitfield (commanding the whaleship John Howland) rescued a 14-year-old Japanese castaway named Manjirō Nakahama from the island of Torishima. Whitfield brought him to Fairhaven to live with his family and receive an American education, sparking the first historical ties of friendship between Japan and the United States.

Now that was interesting, as oe of the properties that had been mentioned to me was the Whitfield-Manjiro Friendship House, and i came across that next

Today, the house operates as a museum and cultural center celebrating US-Japan friendship

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

Add a bit of a write up about where you walked

Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .

Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.
