Camp Lodge

Welcome to my Wednesday fall colors walk. I'm a day late for #wednesdaywalk but the walk was actually yesterday on Wednesday.

Color

I was excited to see lots of color remaining after the storms passed through on Tuesday. We had some strong winds and over two inches of rain.

Framed

The color is good and the lake is pretty flat. It was cloudy but bright.

Leaves down

While the colors are still good on the trees, it was clear along our walk that alot of leaves were knocked down.

Leaves

I usually don't arrange things for photos but I'll blame this on my wife that was playing with some leaves for a photo 😆

Clouds

It was a lovely day for a walk. I took some time and focused on getting some photos of the colors. The storms reminded me of how fleeting fall colors can be.

Color

Here is a wider shot. This is looking north on Lake Dunmore in Addison County, Vermont. The ridge across the lake is Mount Moosalamoo in the Green Mountains. There is a large National Forest on the opposite shore.

Bend

I recently came across the fact online that Vermont is 78% forested. And the forest varies. The flat lands of the Champlain Valley are heavily developed and cleared for people and agriculture. The forest that remains is a mixture of oak and pine. The foothills on the border of the Green Mountains and middle elevations are mixed hardwood forest and the higher elevations in the mountains switch over to spruce and fir. The mixed hardwood is maple, beech and birch and this is the forest that changes colors so beautifully in the fall.
