S/V Dennis Sullivan

this is unusual for me as I normally prepare posts in advance, but a change of plans today so this post is from some photos I took on a morning walk yesterday and decided to share today

I was out for a sunrise walk on Popes Island here in New Bedford and after the sun rose I noticed across the water a tall sail ship was docked inthe port so I swing by and checked it out

It is the S/V Denis Sullivan and is a replica three-masted, wooden, gaff rigged schooner originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was a flagship of both the state of Wisconsin and of the United Nations Environment Programme until she was sold to the World Ocean School and moved to Boston, Massachusetts in late 2022

I am not a sailor, and seldom go out on boats, I cannot remember off hand the last boat I was on, I think it was a ferry in the UK like 20 or more years ago, but I as those that have followed me probably know I do love taking photos of ships and especially old or a replica in this case tall sail ships to me they look so grand
