St. Petersburg is located in a flat area, and the Duderhof heights are called mountains conditionally, in fact these are hills. The height of the Voron'ya Mountain is only 175 meters above sea level. The name Voron'ya Mountain can be translated as Crow's Mountain.
During the Second World War after fierce battles, the Duderhof Heights were captured by German troops. German artillery shelled the city from this mountain.
My walk began from Mozhaiskaya station, the road from St. Petersburg to Mozhaiskaya station takes about half an hour. Near this station there are two ridges of Duderhof heights, Voron'ya Mountain and Orekhovaya Mountain. Before climbing the mountain, I walked a bit through the village of Duderhof. The main buildings of the village are modern cottages, but I found several old buildings and an old water supply.
The Duderhof Heights are a nature reserve. On the slopes there is a park with shady paths and observation decks. Stairs are built where the ascent becomes steep. There are information boards at the entrance, which make it easy to navigate the area.
