Based upon the FUD, many do not see it. Instead, they buy into the bill of goods being sold which is totally misleading.
Our economy is going to be based upon tokens. This is part of the paradigm shift we are seeing. We are already witnessing the foundation being laid by big institutions for this. Now, this is not talking about institutional money investing in crypto. This is much more fundamental.
We are going to see liquidity where there is none presently. New financing models will be erected for real estate, art, licensing, and a host of other items.
This is a guarantee. Why? Scour the Internet some. You will see there are some pretty big fish working on this. Within 5 years, tokens will be in the mainstream consciousness.
Will these types of assets be on the STEEM blockchain? Not likely. STEEM's specialization means these are destined for other areas.
So where is STEEM leading us into the tokenized world?
STEEM is showing us what it will be like to live off the payment of tokens. We are seeing what the future of STEEM will look like.
People are not being rewarded for their content on STEEM anymore. That was what happened in the early days. Now, with the introduction of @actifit, STEEM is a blockchain where one is rewarded for the action taken. This opens up an entirely new avenue of possibility.
Activity is much larger than content.
Think of some of these possibilities.
How about a token for eating healthy? If you have one for walking, why not eating properly?
You can have a token for helping out with the elderly. We could create one for cleaning up the local park or beach. Youth sports organizations could create tokens for coaching or working with the children. How about a token kids can earn for studying? Or one to tutor children after school?
The possibilities are endless. STEEM, through the Smart Media Token protocol, is going to be a token factory. There will be thousands of tokens created on this blockchain.
STEEM is a community. Within that, we are going to see other communities developing. People are going to gather around certain things they like and that will be a community. It could be the Boy Scouts, religion, cheerleading, painting, or learning a foreign language. All activities can be tokenized.
What does this mean for the average Steemian?
It is the opportunity to earn a lot of different tokens. Will some of these projects fail? Of course they will. Many great ideas die a tragic death. A number of them will succeed though.
There is no FUD with STEEM. I know some on here like to promote it. Don't buy into what they say.
I did a quick calculation on the number of applications on this blockchain and came up wtih 357. Perhaps some of you can check me.
I know this is not totally up to date since @dlike is not listed so there are 358 applications on the STEEM blockchain. Certainly not all are going to be active applications. Many will end up not being utilized.
But let me ask you a question: do you think the developers of those applications are done?
I do not believe so. It is highly illogical to think that those developers are not going to keep creating more applications.
So while STEEM's app list does not rival Ethereum's, it is growing. To add to this idea, there are more developers who are joining this ecosystem.
In addition, STEEM also has the ability to change the face of online advertising.
At present, when on YouTube, viewers have to watch an ad unless they opt to join Red Tube to get rid of them. Hence, one has to pay not to see the ads or watch ads that Google gets paid for.
What if @dtube implemented advertising on the videos but, instead of the platform getting paid, the viewer opted in and received payment for it? Or imagine if Busy.org decided to allow advertising and, before the ad popped up, one opted in for payment?
Or to go one step further, what if a SMT was created simply as payment from advertisers to anyone on the STEEM blockchain? No matter what application was used, the ads viewed would be paid with the "AD" token.
This is the future of advertising in a decentralized world.
A decade from now, each of us is going to be paid for most everything we do. This is the reality with tokenization. The ability to incentivize any activity now exists. Having easy token creation will give STEEM another leg up in that area. The ability to effortlessly create tokens provides for a great deal of experimentation. That is what will spur a ton of innovation.
As the community starts to churn out different ideas, projects take hold. The ones that succeed will be the foundation for more to be created on top of it. This is the magic of open source. Whatever went before is now food for further development.
The final piece of the puzzle is that all the SMT created tokens can funnel into STEEM and be powered up. This is an enormous advantage since it can tie everything together. Those who want to hold a particular token can do so. Yet, those who earn tokens yet are not certain of the long term viability of the project, can swap it for STEEM.
That is the advantage of having a blockchain full of utility tokens that are all paired with the main token. Any one that is earned through activity on a particular site can feed one's STEEM account which then can increase the influence on this blockchain.
My projection is that, within 5 years, those on this blockchain, being early adopters of tokens, will be pulling in 50 different tokens a monthly basis. Most of us will be immersed in a tokenized world long before we see mass penetration.
