Dreaming of Better

With guests coming in a half hour to celebrate the arrival of 2025, I just wanted to finish 2024 with a thank you to the Hive community and all the people who have taken the time and made the effort to participate on Hive well, and make it a great place to spend a good portion of my time. I like being on Hive, even though sometimes it can be frustrating in many ways, but there are at least a number of people here that make it worth it, even if I don't always agree with them.

That is part of the fun.

However, there is also a lot of crap I don't like, which is the scam, the spam and the people who are constantly complaining about Hive, or Hive users, yet continually post in one way or another. Just go over to Blurt and leave Hive alone.

But overall, lets go with a positive view, where despite all of the challenges and lack of eyes on Hive, undervaluing for what it is, it will soon be nine years where a crypto community has been spending their time in a crypto community, that isn't owned by a corporation, and is controlled in a decentralised manner. The technology has improved, the usecases have continued to expand, and there is a lot of potential in the future that should bring more eyes and hopefully much more value to Hive, the tokens, and Hive participants who power up at least some and build their stake in the community.

Price-wise, the coming months might be a little volatile to begin with, and then maybe it will go sideways for a bit, but I think that it is going to be a pretty good year for crypto, if the past is anything to go by - which it often is not. Still, those who are willing to put in the time and effort in the right way to invest themselves into Hive or crypto in general, should do okay.

At the end of January I will be entering my eighth year on Hive, and while some might think it is a lot of time and effort wasted, I reckon I have both built some monetary potential, as well as learned a hell of a lot about many aspects of the world I wouldn't have otherwise. I think being on Hive has opened me up to topics and thoughts that have made my life better in most ways, even though uncomfortable in others. As they say, ignorance is bliss, and I think I am a little less ignorant than I was earlier.
