Broken wires
The connections formed in the middle of the deepened night
as the stars blinked out one by one. The glow left was from deep inside
and the power spread from core to light, the fingertips of a new world.
Frayed became the tethered ends as the fears settled down
and the store leaked out of every tap. All that remained was the insane
and the cowering frame of pathetic sight, bowed to old flags unfurled.
Relationships built upon the foundation spilled across trade floor
like the blood of the fallen to earth. Screams raised until silence fell
and the dreams of the many spread wide, onto rocks they were hurled.
