Maybe it is the illness, or the busyness, or the stupidness - but this current season for Splinterlands has been more of a mental struggle than other seasons. I scraped my ass into Champion 3 in both formats, but I still don't see the point in doing so and I probably should just focus on one of them, as I am playing over 500 games a season across the two formats at the moment, which is far too much.
Wild (53% win):
Modern (50% win):
The latest brawl:
Smashed.
I also got my Runi staked, played a few rounds and surprisingly, am yet to lose one with it so far. I have only played a few, but for example, it saved my ass here:

I am yet to need the rebirth feature, but overall it is a bit of a beast. I like that it has reflection shield, because then it can hit without taking thorns damage. Reflection shield has been shifted the entire meta of the game, as has a couple of other changes of late, like cripple not being able to be cleansed away. However, I do think that cripple should be reset after a resurrection, but it doesn't seem to be the case.
I also picked up this sucker, because in my family,
I am the bear.
At launch, it was selling for up to a dollar a card, which is crazy considering there are almost half a million of them out there and more on the way. I picked mine up by buying singles at an average of around 16.7 cents, a total of about 67 dollars. less than 12 hours earlier, it had been 190 dollars for a max. It might drop a bit more, but this is a reasonable price for me to get one to use.
However, because of Splinterlands processing blocks slowly when I was making the purchase, Peakmonsters was playing silly buggers and I ended up buying 250 more than I needed. I ended up selling them this morning for a small profit, which covered the fees involved, so no harm, no foul.
I haven't had a chance to use this card yet, but it might be an interesting card under some conditions, but I am not exactly sure what I will do with it yet. It is very high mana, not fast enough, nor slow enough, but is only the second card to have Halving (not including Gladius) in the game, which is difficult to use at the best of times, but valuable when used well. The difference to the Halfling Alchemist though, is this isn't a range monster, so it either has to be in the first position, or in a ruleset that allows it to attack from other points. It might also be an interesting card to try with the new Possibilus water summoner, that would give it reach. Though, it might be better to have Diemonshark in that position still.
And then there is this:
I claimed one of the 10 LAND plots I have, just to see what happened. I don't know if it is better to claim them all at once and have them in a series, or to claim them randomly, but this is what I have done now and there is no turning back. The pristine North West....
I hope I find oil.
Because the current price of SPS hovering around 3 cents is not filling me with enthusiasm.
One benefit of having some SPS stake recently has been the GLX getting dropped on it, which I have been diligently selling as the price has collapsed 95% from the highs a only a couple weeks ago and I suspect will keep on a similar trajectory for a little while longer at least. I might even start buying some back if the price drops low enough, but I am not sure what "low enough" is going to be for me on this one. I have used the value earned to buy some cards, so it is going back into Splinterlands at this point.
Bear markets are where the profits are really made, as it is is when the largest amount of collection is possible. However, it is very hard to predict what is going to survive the bear markets themselves and what would be the best course of action. Come the bull markets, it all gets much easier and everyone becomes excited by the increase in their relative values, but we are likely a couple years away from any significant movement of the "life changing" type I am looking for at least. Though, things can change quickly in crypto and the markets in general.
Will Splinterlands come back from the dead like Runi?
I hope so.
