Happy Monday afternoon. I hope you’re all doing well, in good spirits, and enjoying the start of the week—which always brings a mix of freshness, routine, and new opportunities. For me, this Monday began with a sense of relief, because yesterday—Sunday—I was able to get the rest I needed. After such a long and demanding Saturday, my body simply asked for a break, and I gave it one without feeling guilty. I slept, recharged my energy, and let the fatigue gradually fade away.
Saturday was an intense day from the very start. It began at 8:30 in the morning, when we arrived at the location of the tank we needed to repair. We’d already bought the materials the day before, so in theory, it was just a matter of getting organized and getting started. But as is often the case with fieldwork, there’s always some unexpected detail that pops up. As soon as we arrived and began preparing everything to enter the tank, we realized that the inlet valve was in terrible shape. The metal was corroded, worn down by time and moisture, and it was clear it wouldn’t hold out much longer.

While the guys were putting away the tools and preparing the access point, my husband and I went to the nearest hardware store to pick up some elbows to replace the damaged ones. Those kinds of quick errands seem simple, but they’re an essential part of the job.

When we returned, they had already started working inside the tank, and it soon became clear that the walls were in worse shape than we had imagined. There were more holes, more wear and tear, and more weakened areas. That forced us to go out again, this time to find another container of material and some fine mesh to properly seal the holes.

The search for the mesh took us farther afield, because not every hardware store carries the right kind for this type of repair. By the time we finally found it and returned, one of the workers had already applied the first coat of the water-repellent product to the wall.

Then they applied the mesh with cement and the other drying agent, allowing each to set for the required amount of time. It was a meticulous, slow process, but necessary to ensure that the tank would be completely waterproof.
The final coat was applied at 10:00 p.m. By that time, we were all exhausted, our bodies feeling heavy and our clothes covered in dust and cement. Between cleaning up, gathering tools, and organizing everything, we finished at 11:30 p.m. Fifteen hours of continuous work. Fifteen hours of physical effort and concentration. But also fifteen hours that were well worth it. The owner of the place was impressed; he told us the tank looked brand new, and that sense of satisfaction is what makes all the exhaustion feel lighter.

With that sense of accomplishment, we headed home, and we spent all of Sunday resting. We needed that to start this new week in good spirits and with our minds ready for the challenges ahead.
See you soon.
Bye.

Chao.
