Do you believe in “spirit”?
For me, I completely believe in the existence of “spirit”. I think there are many of them around us, it’s just we cannot see them in our present world, i.e. they live in another world…
Although I have never seen them in my life, I can touch them and my senses can tell me about them. It’s something that I can not explain by writing.
“Chao Thi” is believed to be the spirits who protect our area, our house, our building. Normally, they live in “Sarn Phra Phum” or shrine of the household god that we built for them.
“Wai Chao Thi” is the way we worship spirits. This is to thank them that they protect our area and we believe that they will help us to get through any difficulties and bless us with happiness in our life.
The things that we normally prepare to worship the spirits are: i.e. food, desserts, water, fruits, and garlands, etc.
In large areas such as rice fields, there is no “Sarn Phra Phum”, these things are prepared on the table in the open air like this one.
Apart from the spirits, we also worship our ancestors and our beloved ones who already passed away.
Below is the place where my beloved father and brother’s bones are situated. It’s called, “Koj” in Thai. (It acts like a “tomb”, but "koj" keeps only the bones after the funerals.)
This is for the good memorial of our beloved ones....
