The skies were fabulous here today! As the winter solstice approaches (I know it's a ways off yet, but it IS coming) and the days get shorter, it's easier for me to catch both sunrise and sunset on the farm.
It was a fairly regular day at Tanglebranch Meadows. Sheep chores in the morning; the ewe lambs have all settled right in! I thought about working on my deck today, but it was breezy. My cold has given me double earache, which only feels worse in the wind, so I opted for indoor tasks today.
The main project today was more tomato sauce. I'd done up the plain tomato puree on Sunday and roasted it overnight into Monday. I had enough going on Monday that it seemed wiser to just refrigerate the tomatoes until I had more time today.
Here comes the montage!
Olive oil (1/3 cup-ish):
Diced onions from the garden (3 medium):
Diced green pepper from the garden (1 medium, 1 small):
Some seasonings (4 tbsp of "Italian seasoning", 1 tbsp coarse salt, 2 tbsp garlic powder):
And finally, the tomato puree (approximately 6 L):
Got it all heated to a boil, filled hot jars, seals and lids, and into the pressure canner it goes!
One jar didn't seal, the screw band popped off the threads, so we ate that one for supper!
One other thing I did today was package up a couple more fleeces that I had sold. I have a lot of colourful sheep, whose wool can be popular with fiber artisans because of it's unique coloring.
And that, my friends, about sums up my day! All the gaps between were filled with games and talking and playing with my two youngest children, and of course, surfing steemit! I even did up an extra post for a contest.
