I thought it was a good time for another one of these!

I don't consider myself a poet. But sometimes, the words we say are more poetic than we realize. Over at the Writer's Block, our resident poetry guru, damianjayclay@damianjayclay, is a master at picking out these little poetic moments.

The context of this conversation was just me trying to give some heartfelt advice to someone who was feeling a little down-in-the-dumps. I guess it was pretty nice stuff to say in the first place, but it seems even nicer after poemization!

So here we go.

Advice to Surfie

If you're always comparing your coolness
to how much more can be obtained,
you'll never get enough.

Better to look upon how much coolness
you already have
and be startled
with how much is already there
