Lunch time. My Mum who accompanied me to work today decided to have our lunch at a restaurant nearby my workplace. However, today is Thursday, and most Chinese restaurants are closed. In the Mandarin Chinese language, the Chinese pronunciation for 'Thursday' is the same as 'Death'. For Chinese, it's not a good day for doing business.
My Mum craves for fish noodles. Today, all Chinese restaurants that served delicious fish noodle were closed. No choice, we have to choose another restaurant for lunch.
I remember that 
Fong's Cottage restaurant opened on Thursday. It is located between a warehouse and a workshop. Rarely does a restaurant operate in that area. This restaurant is also near my workplace where I work for almost 6 years. I only knew about this restaurant after reading
I parked my car quite far from this restaurant. My Mum and I had to walk there. When we arrived at the ordering counter at the restaurant, my Mum still asked if there were fish noodles available. My Mum's comment was also quite shocking to the waiter who took our order since this restaurant only offers chicken-related meals.
Maybe many Chinese restaurant closed today, most of the food on the menu was sold out as at 12.45 pm. This is my first visit to this restaurant, but I can't try their signature chicken rice that was sold out that time. We only order chicken noodle soup for our lunch.
While we were waiting for our food to be delivered to our table, a friendly cat greeted us just beside our table.
We also bought 3 buns or pastries from this restaurant for takeaway. We will eat it during working hours.
My beverage of choice is a cold black coffee in a bottle, while my Mum orders cold milk coffee. Unfortunately, the waiter had delivered my Mum iced milk tea instead of iced milk coffee. Due to not having her favorite food for lunch, she is already grumpy. Now, she is even more grumpy after getting the wrong beverage from the restaurant.
Mum's first reaction to the chicken noodles soup was to complain. She was not satisfied with the small amount of chicken broth in the bowl.
As for me, with my chicken noodles soup, I add my plate of grilled chicken into my bowl so that I can eat it with it.
There were no further complaints from my Mum afterward, as the food tasted fine to her.
We returned to my workplace after finishing lunch. Before entering my workplace, we ate ice cream as dessert first. Hopefully this will lessen my Mum's grumpiness.
The ice cream seller was quite generous for giving us a mountain of ice cream in a cup for each of us. We having coffee flavour of ice cream on top and mint flavour ice cream beneath it.
