Hello writers and passionate followers (if there are any)!
Let's take a wild ride one more time with new writing prompt from @mariannewest and
@freewritehouse. This time I took a turn from my usual fiction(ish) type of writing and decided to go back to what I love the most.
That would be heavy self analyzing and find out why the curves in my brain go the certain way. Let's dive right in!
Firecracker
Certain smells evoke hidden memories, buried deep in the halls of your preoccupied mind. You can forget something ever happened and then out of nowhere, a smell tickles your imagination, making you rethink events. Is it a memory or something else?
I never particularly liked celebrations of anything, not until well in my twenties when I realized that I don't have to please my mother.
In the depth of my being I always had an amazing spark. Ready to burn to eternity and light the way not only for me, but for anyone who needed it. But that little spark didn't stand a chance in the shadow of depression my surrounding had for me.
Can you really extinguish a fire someone is born with? Light finds a smallest crack in the darkest of places and grows if you just give it some space. It was a tinny hole in the beginning, but my restless spirit kept picking on the wounds discovering that every scar had a bright strength behind it.
Firecracker was in my hand, it's pungent smell filled my nostrils and body with fear. I could feel the dread and hear a little voice saying:
"That is such a stupid and dangerous thing, shame on you"
But did I give up and let the shame and fear overwhelm me? No. I finally took myself as I am, a childish, spirited human that I was meant to have fun. It blasted away in the silence of the night and it was truly amazing and freeing at the same time.
Me, my newly discovered fire and a little firecracker in my hand moved on from the past with a completely new outlook on life. It's wild, fun and adventurous. Full of love, experiences and lessons. Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, but never indifferent.
With love and fire,
Tamara
