Don't be surprised by this title of my post. Yes, I'm stuck with my lilac cardigan knitting.
It looks terrible, doesn't it? I progressed very quickly, but who would have thought that this knitting pattern would become an obstacle for me in promoting my work.
If you don’t understand what it is in the photo above, then I’ll answer you - it’s a sleeve! Funny, is not it?
Yes, I know, it doesn't look like a sleeve at all. It doesn't look like anything at all. It's actually a sleeve. But for you to see this, I need to stretch the canvas. I asked my husband to help me take a photo of it.
The pattern twists the fabric so much that the sleeve doesn’t look like a sleeve at all. When I knitted the sweater myself, it looked better. And the sleeve didn’t look bad at first either.
While I knitted the jacket only with this openwork pattern, I decided to knit the sleeves a little differently: the openwork pattern should only be on the front side of the fabric. The lower part of the sleeve is knitted in regular garter stitch.
With such a choice of patterns, my work progressed very quickly at first. I like the way the bottom of the sleeve looks, forming a wave - very unusual. I like it.
At this stage, as you can see, the canvas held its shape well. But as we progressed, the canvas began to look like you saw in my photos earlier. This made it difficult for me to check whether I had counted the number of stitches correctly. It seemed to me that I made a mistake in the calculations and the sleeve turned out to be too narrow. Therefore, I unraveled the sleeve almost completely and tried to add stitches in the knitting more often so that the fabric would not be narrow. And what do you think? It seems to me that it will still be narrow. I think that I will have to unravel everything completely again and start knitting again but with a much larger number of loops.
At the moment I decided to finish this sleeve, sew it to the jacket and try it on. Then I will decide what to do with it next. To be honest, by this time I was sure that I would have completely finished knitting this sweater, but this pattern outsmarted me ;(
