Have you ever been given something or you ordered clothes online that did not fit you? I'm sure each of us has experienced something similar 馃槒 We ran into this when we ordered a knitted winter hat for my husband online. When the order arrived, we discovered that they sent us the wrong model that we ordered. It was the wrong yarn composition (much cheaper) and the wrong size.
The hat around the circumference of the head was suitable for my husband, but it was short. Of course, we wrote to the seller that he was mistaken, but he did not want to change anything. We filed a formal complaint and in the end we got back all the money we paid, and that store disappeared from the list on the Internet. Probably he was punished, especially since our case was not the only one, as we later learned.
So we got a knitted hat for free. My husband wore this late at night when we went out for a walk 馃槄 He did not want to order it from another online store. The other day I was looking for an idea for knitting winter hats. I reviewed a lot of different options and suddenly a brilliant idea appeared in my head regarding my husband's hat! 馃槂 What if you knit the bottom of the hat and sew it to this?!!!
I decided to try to do it. I have black yarn which is similar to hat yarn. I put aside all my projects that I did and started knitting this part.
This is easy knitting that brings pleasure when the hands are busy with knitting needles and the head may well read something, watch or listen. I like it!!! 馃槉
I knitted this in size a little more than the lapel that was on the hat. Since I wanted the seam to be inside and not below. I quickly finished this part. Now you need to sew it to the bottom of the hat.
To do this, it was necessary to stretch the elastic band on the hat a little. It was not very convenient to work. I used safety pins to secure the hat and the new elastic together so it wouldn't move. That's what I got!
It looked even better than I expected!!! I was just happy!!! 馃槉 My husband was initially very skeptical of my idea. But now he saw it and was amazed 馃槷
The next step was to correct the upper part of the back seam on the cap lapel. That is I had to rip it apart and sew it from the wrong side.
Here you go! So much neater! In fact, the hat was already ready.
But I decided to take the risk of suggesting that my husband make a pom-pom for the hat. I wanted to dilute the black color of the hat with something and decorate it. To be honest, I was sure that he would not want to. Imagine my surprise when my husband immediately agreed! 馃槷馃槷馃槷 I offered him a choice of pom-pom yarn to choose from and got to work.
It turned out such a fun pom-pom! 馃槉
The hat with this pompom did not look as gloomy as before 馃槂
Now my husband just loves his hat and is very happy to wear it! He says that now the hat has become very comfortable and beautiful.
I am even proud that I was able to do this project!!! 馃槂馃槉
Once again I was convinced that there is no need to rush to throw things away. Sometimes you just need to think about whether it can be fixed and look for ideas on how to do it.
