Did you ever get to have fuzzy thoughts about what you watched as a kid on TV? Because of how old you are, maybe our memories aren't the same, but I, for one, remember Nick turning into something very different at night. The Hey Arnold episodes were a little darker, or at least they felt that way.

They would also run a series called the House of Anubis which, to me, was scary. I'm afraid to revisit those kinds of shows, because I know that a lot of those shows were really just silly shows for kids but in my mind they were something completely dark and murky. Has anything like that ever happened to you? I'm sure I'm not the only one, and I know I'm not the only one because recently a movie was released that tells basically the same story.

Me da miedo revisitar ese tipo de series, porque sé que muchas de esas series la verdad eran series tontas para niños pero en mi mente eran algo completamente tenebroso y turbio. ¿Te ha pasado algo así? Estoy seguro de que no soy el único, y sé que no soy el único porque hace poco se estrenó una película que relata básicamente este mismo suceso.

I saw the tv glow is the new movie from a24 that immediately goes on my list of upcoming cult movies. The movie, which follows the life of Owen, shows us how since his childhood he has been obsessed with a late night TV series. Owen along with a friend of his becomes obsessed with the series and the girl, more obsessed than him, shows strange attitudes that Owen does not fully accept. From here on what I can tell you is spoiler, but nothing can really prepare you for the sensations you are going to find watching this movie.

La película, que sigue la vida de Owen, nos muestra cómo desde su niñez ha estado obsesionado con una serie que pasaban tarde en la noche por la tv. Owen junto con una amiga suya se obsesionan con la serie y la chica, más obsesionada que él, muestra actitudes extrañas que Owen no acepta del todo. A partir de aquí lo que pueda contar es spoiler, pero realmente nada puede prepararte para las sensaciones que vas a encontrar viendo esta película.

But there's one thing I want to make clear right now, and that's that the film feels and breathes Generation Z. It feels like a contemporary version of Donnie Darko, in the best sense, with stuff from Cronenberg's Videodrome and teen horror as well. The film falls into an atmosphere, either by its photography or its direction, that feels like a dream from which you can't wake up...or not, has it ever happened to you that you don't know if you're asleep or awake, that you're in a limbo where you feel everything around you but at the same time you feel like you're hallucinating in your dreams? If it has happened to you, this is what the movie feels like at times, and if it hasn't happened to you, don't hesitate to wait until it's nighttime to watch this incredible movie, and be amazed in a way that few movies can.

Pero hay algo que quiero dejar en claro desde ahora, y es que la película se siente y respira generación Z. Se siente como una versión contemporánea de Donnie Darko, en el mejor sentido, con cosas de Videodrome de Cronenberg y de terror adolescente también. La película cae en una atmosfera, ya sea por su fotografía o por su dirección, que se siente cómo un sueño del que no puedes despertar…o no, ¿te ha pasado que no sabes si estas dormido ni despierto, qué estás en un limbo en el que sientes todo el entorno a tu alrededor pero a su vez sientes que estas alucinando en tus sueños? Si te ha pasado, así se llega a sentir la película a veces, y si no te ha pasado, no dudes en esperar hasta que sea de noche para ver esta increíble película, y que te sorprenda cómo pocas películas lo pueden hacer.

Actually, if this wasn't a movie that was practically just released, I would talk a lot about everything the movie is to me, with certain examples and stories in the movie, but since I really want the person who sees it to arrive practically blank (just like I did), I prefer to reference it, to think that in sensations it felt like Beau is Afraid and that, basically, is as good as it is bad. Because if there is something about Beau is Afraid (and most cult movies) is that they are divisive, so I don't blame the person who doesn't like I saw the tv glow, but I can understand the person who loves it, because the movie is as hypnotic as that old memory of your nights watching TV as a kid.

Realmente, si esta no fuese una película que prácticamente se acaba de estrenar, hablaría mucho sobre todo lo que la película es para mí, con ciertos ejemplos y relatos en la película, pero cómo en serio quiero que la persona que la vea llegue prácticamente en blanco (así como llegue yo), prefiero referenciarla, pensar que en sensaciones se sintió como Beau is afraid y eso, básicamente, es tan bueno cómo malo. Porque si algo tiene Beau is Afraid (y la mayoría de películas de culto) es que son divisoras, así que no culpo a la persona que no le guste I saw the tv glow, pero a su vez logro comprender al máximo a la persona a la que le encante, porque la película es tan hipnótica cómo ese viejo recuerdo de tus noches viendo televisión cuándo niño.
