The Flaming Two

Chapter 1
My life gets screwed up really bad
“Wake up Wake up c'mon we need to go now! We're going to die come on please Wake up”
“What the hell it's two o'clock in the morning”
“ I know we need to go right now”
( Bang Bang Bang )
“Open up”
“ Damn they found us we need to go now. C’mon we can hide in the attic.”
Hi, my name is Johnson and the person that i'm screaming at is my friend ember who is my roommate we are both 17. The reason that i'm doing that is because the local raiders from the forest came and did the biggest attack they have ever done. So… yeh.
“I’ll grab the gun you go up to the attic” I say. She goes to the attic like I asked and I get the gun. In the background I hear the Raiders say “We're coming in.” Then they break down the door
That's when I start sprinting up to the attic. I climb up the stairs and and close the door right when the Raiders break in I hear one of them say “Take anything that could be useful.”
Then I said “ Please don't find the the gold, please don't find the gold.” then I look up and ember is crying. She has her blond hair right over face the way she always does when she cries. She really hates her feelings. Then I notice the how much food was in the attic and I remember that we put a bunch of food up here incase this actually happens. And thank god we did because we might be up here for a couple days. When Ember looks up her cheeks and nose are a little red. She sniffs and says “How long do you think we will be up here”
“ I don’t know “ I say “ my guess is about 2-3 days”
“ Ok, lucky we have all our food we stored”
“ yeh”
The next day we hear the Raider leaving with all the stuff they took. We go down the stairs to see what we still have and what we find something really surprising. Everything was left, they even left stuff that wasn’t ours. “ I have a bad feeling about this.” I say “ It does not feel right”
“ Yeah, it feels like… they're coming back! Let’s go right now c’mon!”
We run out the door and see the that Raiders are coming we hide behind the house just in time so that the Raiders did not see us. But right behind the house was a Raider smoking a cigarette. Im able to push him to the ground and cover his mouth before he could alert the others. Then ember punched him and he went unconscious. We took everything except his cloths. The weird thing was that he did not have anything that was modern he had a sword and a drawn map and cloths made from bear hide. We had no idea why they had all this stuff.They could have easily just bought or raided a nearby store. Me and Ember looked at the map really close and it looked like it was leading to their nearest base. We decided to follow the map through the woods. And we found a trader with his cattle bleeding to death. We helped him as best we could and started on our way again. But when we were walking Ember noticed something. She noticed that if there was someone hurt wouldn't they have a car and a phone that they could call someone with and also not have all their stuff on some cattle? That got both of us wondering, first the Raiders with medieval age stuff and a trader carrying his good with cattle it just didn't add up. We were both really confused. Then Ember says
“Did we just go back to the medieval ages.”
“ I think we did, man our life is really screwed up right now.”
Chapter two
What are we going to do
We are thinking in the middle of nowhere. We are wondering if we should keep following the map or turn back and hope we go back to modern time. We decided to keep following the map and hope we did not run into any trouble.
We start walking and we hear a really loud yelp so naturally we try to find we're the yelp come from. We find an animal on the ground with it's head cut off. We don't see the head so we kinda get suspicious. Then I notice that there is a trail of blood going down a hidden trail.
“Let’s follow the trail.” said Ember. We do and there is still a blood trail to follow. We follow the trail and we find that the trail is going the correct way on the map.
“ That's weird I swear that the map was different when we first started.” says Ember
“ Yes it was different maybe it's a magical map”
We follow the map and it leads to a camp site. I remember that I still had the sword from the raider. We sneak into one of the tents and luckily everybody is asleep we stab each one in the heart and they don't make a sound. We take one of the swords so we can both have one. We go out the tent and we get spotted right away. We start running as fast as we can but the Raiders block our way so we just have to fight. One of them swings at me I duck then I see it is going to hit Ember but she deflects it and the sword goes flying through the air. Then she stabs the raider in the stomach. I see another swing coming at Ember. I kick his legs out and only cuts Embers arm. She screams in pain and then stabs the guy in the back.
“ There's only 4 left come on let's go.” I yell “ Watch the fire behind you.”
“John watch out behind you.” Ember screams. I look behind me and I see a sword coming toward my face and suddenly everything stops I remember all the good and bad thing that I have had in my life. Then I open my eyes and an arrow chinks the sword out of my face and it just barely grases my arm. Thank god I think and then cut the raiders head off. 3 more I think. Then I turn around and I see that there is nobody there besides Ember. I look around for the person that shot the arrow and a shadow and I start sprinting after it. Meanwhile Ember is screaming at me today slow down but I just keep running. “ Hey stop I want to give you something.” I yell while sprinting in the woods. I’m running faster than I ever have in my life. I'm like a bolt of lightning flying through the sky. When I catch up with the guy that shot the arrow I tackle him to the ground. Me and the guy stand up and both sit on different logs. We sit silently for a minute and then we hear Ember say “ where are you guys.” “Over here.” I say and then she comes out of the bushes and says “ Oh, great you got him.” Then the guy says “What do you mean him.” and then she pulls off her hood and I see the most beautiful face I have ever seen she has red hair the color of fire and her eyes have this twinkle that make you afraid of her. I look at her and say “ Who are you.” I'm just a part of your story she says then she gets up and sprints away. “Was she a goddess or something.” I ask then ember says” I have no clue” We look at the map and we see that we are right where the map led us to be. I look at ember and the look down.
“ Do you think we need to dig down.” I say
“ I don't know we can try in this world anything is possible.”
“ Haha, yeah probably. Oh, look at this she even left us a shovel. That probably means we should dig down.” I start digging and ember goes out to try and catch dinner. “When she gets back she is holding two squirrels goodnight for hunting?” I guess she nods and smiles and then walk away to get some firewood. After we eat dinner we go to bed but I can't sleep I'm thinking about how I just killed people I saw there face right when I killed them it was horrible.”Ember?”” I ask
“ Wassup.” How do you deal with killing people seeing their faces, How do you do it.”
“Well since I was in the army back home I was um… I was taught how to deal with killing someone and now Even tho I never killed anyone in the army I know how to control my feelings so it doesn't bother me.”
“Oh, o-ok.”
“Man what the heck are we going to do?” Says Ember
“I really don't know. Well, let's try to get some sleep. Goodnight Ember
“Zzzzzzzzzz.”
“Of course.”
Chapter 3
The next piece of our future.
We camp in the wood for a couple of days, we dig, we hunt, cook, we sleep, and we have a surprisingly good time for where we are. Five days after we met the strange ranger/goddess. I’m digging and I put my shovel in the ground and i go through the dirt and It starts to crumble since we have been digging for a couple of days now the holes pretty deep so first i have to climb a ladder out of the hole. I climb up the ladder and out of the hole in such a rush that I bump into Ember who I did not see and fall back in the hole. She says “Oops, sorry.” then I start screaming for her to gut me up out of the hole because i'm hanging on the edge by a hand. She scrambles to get me out of the hole and does but then she kicks out her legs and I trip over her legs and fall in. Luckily it's only a 10 foot fall in all and all the dirt is all puffy so it doesn't hurt. It is totally dark in the in the room that I have fallen in so Ember can't see me. Ember is screaming my name so loud it hurts “John, John, John where are you are you ok?”
“Yeah i'm fine it's not a big drop.”
“Oh, thank god.”
“Is there any way you can throw down the ladder.”
“yeah of cor… um… it's broken. I'll make another one but you might be in there for a while.”
“Ok, thats cool just will you try to make it fast I don't know what's down here and if there is anything down here I don't want it to find me.”
“Ok I'll try my best be right back.”.”
“ Wait Ember.” I call
“ What is it.” she calls back
“ will you throw down a lamp.”
“Yeah shur.”
“Thanks”
When she throws the lamp down I see that I'm not in a room, I'm in a hallway. I look around and I see these carvings in the wall. They look really old. It looks like a person following a map they look confused but confident. There are one boy and one girl. From what it looks like the girl has embers coming from her hand. There fighting a monster that don't look like anything I've seen. It has 8 arms maybe some of them are legs I don't know. The boy is running at the monster and it looks like he is going to try and kill it and he has a flaming sword in his hand. And on the top of the writing it says the laming two. I think what mild of name is that then I see that there is dust so I wipe the dust away and I see it actually says The Flaming Two. Wow. I think that a great name for a duo. “Maybe when I get back to my real time I can make a circus called the flaming duo. That would be awesome I look around and there are other pictures there are other pictures that show the same exact scene not one difference except that they all have different titles one says the lighting two, another one says the fiersonom two, and more say the water two, the scariest two, the earth two, and so on. I look at all of them and finally get back to the one that I first looked at The fire two. I sit down right under The Fire Two and lean my back against the wall.the second my back hits the wall I hear bricks start moving. Jump up so quick I get dizzy. When I get steady I see that there is a room that the bricks uncovered. I walk into the room making sure there is no booby traps. I see that there is a pedestal in the middle of the room with a piece of paper on it. Right above it it says: Good Job Traveler You Are Now Rewarded With The Next Piece Of The Map. What? I think to myself. The next part of the map? What does that mean? I had so many questions in my head right now that I couldn't think. I see that there are weird statues all around the room. They look like they're alive but I know they are not. I ignore everything for a couple seconds and look at the map. I'm thinking about picking it up but I decide not to. It could be a trap I think. But then I think of something. I pick up some dirt off the ground and throw it at the book. Right when the first grain of dirt hits the book it disappears. After all the dirt lands and stops moving it reappears. What the heck? I think. That's crazy. I look at the map and see that it is a picture of the room I'm in and hat there are a few spaces on the wall that are colored red. I look up and see that in all the spaces that were red on the book there was nothing there. I walk over to one of the empty spaces and see that there is a lever in the space. I pull it to the other side and it disappears same with one row of bricks under and above it. I go to the next level and do the same and the same thing happened. I do it to all of them and the same thing happens every time, but right when the last one finishes a book on a pedestal starts coming out of the ground and I start hearing holy music. Then I notice that the holy music was just me humming because I feel like i'm in a quest to find something and that's what happens in movies when something comes out of the ground on a pedestal. I walk over to the pedestal and see that it got stuck in the ground so it can't get up. I get on my hands and knees and mumble to myself “Why can't this mess up with time be heroic or cool” I pick up the book and everything starts collapsing and bars start closing the entrance so I can't get out. I try to slide out in time but it's too late I get shut in I am never getting out I'm am a dead man. I sit down and wait for my fate but then I notice that there was two entrances and the and the one I see did not get gated so I quickly walk out that one. I walk out the door and see that the everything is collapsing and then I say “Oh, shoot.” I start running to where the hole is and start screaming “ EMBER, EMBER, EMBER.” She hears me and starts yelling back “ What what.” In a vary anxious tone. “ Help please help.”
“Ok, I'm coming with the ladder it's a bit wobbly but I think it will be able to bring you out of the hole.” She puts down the ladder and I start climbing up. I get out of the hole and lay down next to it. Then Ember says “ what happened down there?” I sit up and say “ I got the second piece of the map and then the wall started falling I got out just before the room collapsed.”
“Wait did you just say you got the second piece of the map.”
“Oh, yes I did.”
“ No way! We might actually be able to get out of this reality.” Then Ember jumps up and hugs me to the ground. Ember gets up and says “This is the next piece of our future.”
Chapter 4
How did we get here.
Ember and I are getting ready to start moving from where we were camping and I ask her a question. I say. “Hey Ember since we have been trying so hard to get out of here we haven't really thought of. how we even got here. All we know is that we accidentally went thru a portal that brought us to the medieval ages.”
“ Huh, I haven't given it much thought ether. Maybe once we find what these maps lead to we might be able to know more.”
“yeah hopefully.”When we finish packing we look at the map we see that at the end of the map there is a treasure chest at the end “ I think the next piece of the map is in there.” I say. Then Ember says “And hopefully lots of other stuff to!” Then we start walking. Only like 5 minutes into walking we notice that everything is quiet not a single sound. Then we hear the most tremendous roar I have ever heard in my life it's so loud that my ears want to jump of me and run away. I ask Ember
“ Hey, um… should we keep walking toward there.”
“ Yes we should.”
“ Ok, but you get to be in front.”
We start walking with Ember in the lead. When we are walking I hear that the silence is still there. I see a bird in a tree it's silent and it looks like it's dead so stiff it looks like it was stuffed. After I turn away I hear a thump and then the birds not there anymore.
“Hey, Ember follow me for a bit.” I say in a hush tone “I think there might be something hiding behind those bushes over there.”
“Ok, I'm right behind you.” We sneakily walk over to the bushes I take out my sword and Ember does the same. She holds the up her hand and then puts up three finger and puts down on then another then she says “One.” Then we both jump out of the bushes and see that there is a little goblin. He is about 2 feet tall. He sees us both and he try's to get away but Ember got his foot and he just falls down face first.
“Why were you spying on us.” I say while Ember is dangling him from one foot. “Tell us now!”
I...I was just doing what I was ordered s...sir.”
“Who ordered you to do that.” “
It was my master sir I swear I won't do anything j...just put me down.”
Then Ember drops him and he falls on the ground face first again. He gets up and then I say
“Tell us who sent you!”
“His...his name is gathier.”
“Ember what do you think we should do.”
“I don't know. Oh wait I got it.” Then she looks at the goblin and says “You lead us to him now or you will die.”
O...ok I...I'll lead you to home just please don't hurt me.
“We won't but you have to listen or we might.”
He starts walking away and Ember and I follow.
When we are walking we hear the little goblin talking to himself. I don't know what he saying it sounds like weird gibberish. I tap the goblin the shoulder and he falls on the ground in fear.
“ jeez, sorry didn't mean to fright you. But I was wondering something goblin what your name.” Then he replies and says
“158034.”
“What the hell. What kind of name is that.”
“My master doesn't name any of his minions because he is afraid that he will ether get to attached to one or if we have a name we might think we have power when we don't and he doesn't want any minions rebelling.” Then he looks down then up and says
“We are here.”
“ Where is everything?” Ember asks.
“Oh, right I forgot to tell you. You need the magic word to get in.”
“What's the magic word?” I ask
“It's guldikashic.”
“What.”
“That password in goblin language. If you say it a magic door will appear. Then you walk in it and you're in the castle.”
We all say the magic word and walk in the door
Chapter 5
Well, that was easy
I see see a giant castle that is the most beautiful castle it looks like one of the ones you see at a movie theater. But then I look at the outside and it looks weird. There's weird colors, giant floating rock, giant and I mean giant seaweed or like tentacles. Then I realize something and look at Ember. I turn my head and she's already looking at me with the same face I think I have. Then we say it together
“Are in a different dimension?” Then the goblin says
“Yup, this is a special one too. Everything and anything can be in here. For some reason the air here gives the person that's here the type of air they need.”
“Wow” I say
“Wow indeed, my friend. Well I did my job. Goodbye now.”
“Oh no, your not going anywhere. Until we find your master. Then after we find your master we will convince him to let go of you and you can be free to do whatever you want.” I say to him.
“No, no, no, I'm a working goblin I need to be working for someone if I don't I will get depressed it's that way for all working goblins.”
“ oh, ok, you can work for us. We won't hit you or feed you to little. All you'll be doing is helping us with our travels. How bout that.”
“Yes, yes that will work. Thank you. Both of you.”
“It's our pleasure.”
We walk in the castle surprisingly no one is on duty at the front of the castle. We walk in and it is infested with all kinds of weird bugs that I have never seen. We're walking and there is something that makes me even more suspicious than before. There is a guard on the ground dead. The goblin is in the lead, he is leading us to the main corridors that where the king is usually found.
We walk in the room and see the king moaning in pain on the ground. There is a faint gash on the side of him.
“Hey goblin.” I whisper “go to him and ask what wrong like your still his. Just so we can learn what happens here.”
“Of course my sir.” And he runs off. I turn to Ember and say.
“I am not going to get used to that.” She giggles a bit but then is really serious. We go a little closer to the goblin and king gathair. We hear a little bit of talking then we actually hear what they are saying. We hear the goblin say
“No sir, sorry I'm not 1114593. I'm 158034.”
“Oh.” Said gathair. “I never liked you too much but if you save me you'll be my favorite.” Then me and Ember come out.
“Well, well, well.” Ember says
“Who are you two and what are you doing in my castle.” We came from the future because you raider attacked our nice little village and we Accidentally walked through a portal that brought us to this timeline.”
“Ok well that wasn't me that was my brother also named gathair so will you please help me.”
“Go ahead goblin, chew him up.” I say
“Wait, what you will regret this children. Aaaaaahhhhggg.”
“ yuck this is disgusting. Just kill him.” Ember draws her sword puts it behind he and then. His body dissolves and a wooden puppet falls on the ground. Then we hear a voice recording and it says good job you defeated one of my many many puppets. We pick up the wooden figure and put it in our bag.
“ This is going to be much harder than I thought.” We walk out of the castle and then it blows away like it was dust I. We walk out of the portal and it disappears. Then the goblin says
“Thank you two for freeing me. Now what do you need.”
Chapter 6 damn dummies
“Those damn dummies, now we will never know which one is actually him.” I say vary angrily.
“This might not be true but it said that the true gathair does not look like the rest. It is said that he is not human or goblin he is some type of weird creature and his ultimate goal is to find person of his species and mate so that they can repopulate. But also that just a rumor that the other goblins say.”
“Hey goblin.” Ember asks. “Do you have a name or do you just have numbers.”
“Just numbers I was born and raised in that hell hole.”
“Then how about we give you a name or you give yourself one.”
“Umm… yeah I guess that ok. How about?Larry.”
“Ok, that is fine.”
“ Yup, now who want’s to go to that giant sound we heard earlier.” I say sarcastically. We start walking and we hear another weird sound. It's really loud but not as loud as the other one and the tone is a lot deeper. Ember and I both look at Larry.
“Why you two looking at me.”
“Well you have lived here your whole life. We have lived here 1 week.” Ember says.
“Oh ok, well I think there is a fight over there not sure what it is but I think that last yell was from a troll. Trolls have very good eyesight but horrible hearing so let's go through the woods.”
Ok thanks Larry.” Ember says in response. We let Larry lead. When we are walking through the woods we hear more screams and yells but nothing from the beast we heard before. I'm looking at the woods and see that these are not normal trees they have weird spots on them and I see that the birds have different calls then the ones back home.
We keep walking walking and Larry says
“Be quiet we're about to be out of the woods and right where the fight is happening.”
“Ok thanks for the heads up.” I say.
“No problem.” We walk out of the woods and see that the battle is done.
“It's done. Why is it done though we just heard a yell this can't be right.” I say really confused.
“At least you were right Larry. There is a troll but nothing else.” While Ember is congratulating Larry he starts walking away and says.
“Wait there is something there. Oh-oh no. There is a goblin fighting the troll and by goblin law I have to try to help him win the fight or the goblin rulers will come after me and kill me.”
“Ok, umm how about you direct us to attack him then you won't be in trouble.”
“Yes, yes! That will work.”
“Ok then what do you want us to do boss.”
“Attack the troll!” Then we start sneaking toward the troll. I'm actually scared out of my mind but I do it anyway because the goblin might be useful in the future.
When I'm walking I feel a weird presence in the area. Something that isn't natural. It almost feels like magic. I turn and whisper to Ember
“Do you feel it too.” She nods her head in reply. By this time we are only one hundred or so meters away.
When we are 20 meters from the cavern we see the goblin is hiding on one if the shoulders of the giant. Since the giant is so big he doesn't notice. We see the goblin take out a small dagger out of his back pocket and raises it up slowly eases it down. Raises it up eases it down. Raises it up and it flies through the air into the the shoulder. That's when the giant notices him. He picks up the tiny little goblin raises it above his mouth. I want to look away but something just keeps my eyes glued to the movements. He drops the goblin. The goblin is racing through the air waiting for it's fate but just before he falls to the mouth the giant moves screens in pain and falls over. Then I notice that ember went in front of me and is now slashing at the giant’s foot. I see the goblin falling. Goblins have vary fragile body's so he's probably not going to survive the fall and if he does he'll be vary injured. I think. I look over to Ember and I see that the giant is getting up to fight Ember. Should I save Ember or the goblin. Why is that even a question. I grab my dagger and start running as fast as I can but still trying to be cautious. But before I can get there he hits Ember and she flies into the wall becoming unconscious. Then the giant turns to me and and tries to bat me with his hand. I jump back just in time,I look at Ember and see that she is still unconscious. I curse to myself. If I pick up Ember and run, But the giant might be able to catch us. Go for the ankles. I run under the giant's legs and start slashing at his ankles. He screams and just falls nothing else. I don’t know what happened but I can’t give it much thought I drop my weapon and sprint to Ember. When I get there her eyes are fluttering a bit but it looks like we won’t be able to travel anymore today. I ask her what is her name and she says, “embah.” Looks like you have a concussion I think. Then I pick Ember up and walk to Larry
Chapter 7
Guess we can’t go anywhere
“What happened to her she looks terrible!”
“Yeah She was trying to fight the giant of so I could go catch the goblin but it did not go so well, as you can see.”
“Oh so you saved the goblin, at least one good thing came from that.”
“Well, no we did not save the goblin. He was falling, so I was going to try and catch him but then Ember got hit so I veered of to save Ember. But there was something very weird about how the giant died.”
“Really that’s interesting. How did it happen.”
“I was getting ready to fight him and probably lose but instead of fighting me he just stopped breathing.” Damn he knows we are only supposed use them when we are in life or death situations. Yes that was a life or death situation he was going to die either way.
“That’s weird I wonder if he had a heart attack.”
“Maybe, we should just be happy we didn’t die.” I look over at Ember and she still is a dummy just sitting against a tree looking straight into nothingness.
“I guess we can’t go anywhere.” I say looking at Ember. “Do you think this will be a good campsite or do you think another giant or something will come.”
“No I don’t think so but we should backtrack just a little in case.”
“Yeah you're probably right.” We walk back a little and set up camp for a for the night.
“I’ll take the first shift.” Says Larry
“Ok, fine with me. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
“Hey where have you been your two hours late.”
“Sorry this guy I’m traveling with didn’t fall asleep for a long time. I had to make sure it was safe to leave.”
“Ok, well here's the stuff you asked for.”
“Thanks, this will be useful in the future. They won’t even know what hit them.”
Chapter 8
Ember are you ok
“Good morning, Ember. Nice to see you function again.”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself goblin I’ve only been resting for 3 days, and I can tell you this for sure. That was a bad concussion. I’ll be resting for at lest 4 more days. Where is John? I’m getting pretty hungry.”
“He has to go out farther and farther every day, because the animals don’t go here anymore. That is because they are afraid of us.”
“Oh, is there any dinner from last night?”
“No, I’m sorry you will just have to wait.”
“Fine.”
(The next day.)
“Hey Ember, do you think you will be able to walk for a bit today I’ve been having to go really far for hunting lately and that makes it take longer which means you don’t get food for breakfast.”
“Why not I’ve done much worse before.”
“Thanks, I don’t know what I would do if I were you.
“Ok, ready Ember,” she nods her head looking a little nauseated. “One, two, three.” Me and the goblin lift her up, but I’m doing all the work.
“Thanks, guys. I think I can take it from here.”
“Fine, but I’m going to be right next to you in case. You still look a little woozy from the hit.” We are all walking just a little slower than normal for Ember. We have to take breaks every ten to fifteen minutes so Ember can rest. On our second rest we are waiting around just to catch our breath. I see something! Sprinting towards us. I get my sword ready. Ready or whatever is coming. I blink quickly making sure I can see strait. The beast comes out of the bushes and I see it just a cute dog. The dog has white pointy ears and has all white fur she looks like a snow wolf. She’s a little bigger on the dog size fierce blue eyes. I put my sword back in its sheath and put it down. I get lower to the ground to see if it will come up to me nicely, but it just keeps sprinting. I’m starting to get a bit worried but I’m still confident that the dog is nice. She leaps in the air like a majestic bird and lands right in front of me. She nocks me over and just starts liking my face.
“Off him Sophie,” and the dog jumps of me right away. I turn to him and say
“How did you know this dog's name. Even if it was a lucky guess why did it lisan to you.”
“A-all goblins can-n do that?” He exclaims.
“I don’t know something fishy is going on here and I don’t know what it is. Tell me goblin do you know something that we don’t.”
“Um… yeah many, many thing yeah. Like I bet I know a joke you don’t or I bet I know more about cleaning toilets then you.”
“Oh shut up you that just proves my point even more. You know something now tell my or I’ll throw you in the bushes right now,” I say, and by now I have pinned him up on a tree with my arm on his throat.
“Fine you’ve got me. I have been giving information to another goblin about you guys and he has been paying me in… well I guess not paying me but more like letting me be a free goblin. You know the place you found me, well I was coming out of there from a raid I just did. I did not kill everybody but I was scavenging. I bet you're wondering then how did the puppet think I was a his worker. I threw take of poison that I make so he believed everything I told him. And where did you get the idea that goblins like eating people. We are just as civilized as you humans.”
“Ok, but you still didn’t tell me what the other goblin is paying you in.”
“He hasn’t been paying me at all. What really is happening is. (Sigh) I’m a criminal. I’m a stealer.”
“And what does the other goblin want with us.”
“The capital heard about you and they wanted to know more. They wondered why you came in the one year portal.”
“Wait, did you say the once a year portal. What do you mean by that.”
“Shoot you weren’t Supposed to know that.”
“Tell me now! Does the portal appear in the same place every year.”
“No it doesn’t. The only person that knows is the person we are trying to find gathiar.”
“Damn it goblin you screwed everything up. I’m done with you.” I say in descust.
Chapter 9
There it is
“Ember do you need a rest.”
“No, I can keep going a while longer we need to get as close to the capital before dark.”
“I still don’t understand why we need to do this.”
“It’s because (pant, pant) the goblin said stuff about gathiar and the portal, and remember he’s a criminal. Just think what the goblins at the top might know. Just think.”
“Yes I do see your point, but it still worries me that were going into a city of goblins what if we can’t get in? What if they don’t like humans.”
“Then we will sneak in.”
“How?”
“We will figure that out at the capital.”
“Hey look I can see the capital,” I say. I can see the little golden tip at the top.
“Ember c’mon we have to hurry up.” By now Ember is feeling better and is at full health. So she cool with me pushing her a bit. Well, I guess not full health because I can still go farther and longer than her. Once she get back to full health she will be much quicker and she will be able to go much longer than me. We are walking and walking, and slowly the capital is getting clearer and clearer. As we get closer I start seeing the these engravings on the top of what it looks like the main building. Ember and I get to the outskirts of the capital and then back up a bit so we are not seen when we are sleeping. Ember takes the first watch while I sleep. Sometime in the middle of the night Ember wakes me up. Of course I am tired but I deal.
“Goodnight Ember,” I say sleepy. In response she just makes a small almost unbearable sound. I’m pretty sure she said night but I don’t really care what I’m really focused on, is really, just staying awake. Since I’m real tired my listening skills are not working to well. I can also hear Ember snore which blocks out a lot of noise two. If I’m being honest I’m surprised wolves have not eaten us because of her snoring. I hear a small crackle in the leaves but I don’t pay too much attention to it be because it happens all the time. It’s usually a mouse or squirrel. I start walking around for a while so I don’t fall asleep. After twenty minutes of so I end up drinking all my water. I go to the stream Ember found which is like only fifty yards away, so I’m still in seeing distance of the campsite. I’m walking back and I hear a faint yell. It might just be a dream but I still start running. I open the tent and she is still sleeping soundly.
“Oh thank god.” I walk out of the tent and BAM! I start falling trying to call Ember but it’s to late someone already dragging her out of the tent. Some guy comes up to me gets in my face and starts laughing and says, “
“No one can help you now kid.” He kicks me and I go black.
Chapter 10
What is that thing.
“We can’t let them know. If they do know the will destroy our plans.”
“Fine! Do what you want I never wanted him here anyway.
“Huh, where am I. Help!”
“Jack! It’s me Ember. I was captured with you. I’ve been up for like ten minutes.”
“Did they leave us in this room. We don’t even have restraints on us.”
“They must think that we are weak kids that have no clue how to fight or whatever.”
“Yeah, has anyone be,” I was cut off by from what it looked a slave holding food.
“You humans what food.”
“Yes please”
“Sure, I'll have some to.” He hands each of us a plate of food with bacon eggs and sausage. I have not had this food in months.
“Thank you!” He nods his head than walks away. Ember and I start destroying our food. Then someone else comes in. He looks high in command.
“You two. Follow me.” Slowly get up not wanting to go away from our food. But we do. While we are following him I notice that the walls have the same weird engravings like the top of that holden bubble. I want to know what they mean and then I see it. The same picture from the cave. It’s the same monster with eight arms it’s the same man either the swords on fire and it’s the same woman with the powers of fire. I ask the goblin, “what does that picture mean. Ember looks at and realizes that it’s the picture that I told her about. The goblin looks and says, “ you will see in a minute. Just wait.”we walk for what seems like forever. But after awhile he go through a doorway and come into a giant chamber with that picture on the wall. But there seems to be something different. The flaming sword and the name that says the flaming two are not up there.
“Did you kids see the other pictures on the wall. There was the flaming two that was the one you pointed out. But there were also others like the water two, the lighting two, the lifeling two, and much more. This is the original painting of that saying and engraving the reason the name and the water or whatever isn’t up is because only one of them is true. The only way to find out what’s behind that door is to say the names of the people who possess the power of one of the pictures. If you are the people we have been looking for, for centuries then all we need to do is say your names. That’s it. This is the reason the capital was built. It was for this purpose and this purpose only. After a while of searching and trying to get the door opens people started living here and it became a capital. Now people don’t even know about this magical thing. It’s so sad.”
“Well I guess we should say our names. Here I’ll go first. I am Ember Shono”
“And I am John portling.” Then the big intense moment comes and… nothing happens.
“No, no why can’t it be you my years of research and for what. Nothing! I’m done with this I’m leaving.”
“Umm… sir, look at the wall.” He turns his head to a slight angle so he can see the wall. I see his eyes light up then his face then his whole body.
“Oh thank you, thank you. And guess what you two are the flaming two you sneaky bastards you made me think I’m a failure. Oh, now let’s see what’s behind the door.” We all take the handle and start pulling. We open the door. We look in side and all our faces drop. None of us know what to do.
Chapter 11
How do I do this
All of our mouths are open. All we see is a sword and book. The scientist starts walking up to the sword. While he’s walking he starts saying, “Based on my theory I would think that this is the flaming sword and this is the book of fire. The real question is how does the fire happen. But I think that you two are the only ones who can touch these. I bet if I touch them I’ll thrown or something. That’s why I’m not touching it.” He looks at Ember and I and we just look confused.
“I want one of you to touch it.”
“Oh, ok I will.” I start walking up to the sword and I’m a little afraid but I just think of what would happen if It works. I would be able to hold a sword of flames. I step up to the sword close my eyes. I reach out my hand. I feel the sharp metal against my hand. I open my eyes look and say, “Thank the lord.” I pick it up and do a little swish and it flashes up and fire comes. It feels like I’m looking in the face of death. Ember looks smiles and starts walking to the book. She pick it up. Nothing happens. She looks in the book and sees what she needs to do to cast one. She moves her hand in a weird way and sparks fly. She does it again and it bursts out at the wall. We suddenly hear a voice. The voice sounds a lot like the one from the castle where we met Larry.
“Great job children. You have completed my task for you quicker than I thought. I will let you pass to the next room but you have to be by yourself. If you are not I will know. So get rid of that man over there and come in this gate. But know this after you pass that threshold you are now no longer living or dead you are just there is a place. I have been in here for billions of years because I can not die. If you wish to know the secrets of getting back to your life then you must come in and find me.” Me and Ember both look at each other then at the guy. He looks back at us and says,
“Well, what are you waiting for. Go in there and learn everything! When, well, if you come back tell me everything!”
“Two things one, we will come back, and two when we do come back yes we will tell you everything we know. Com’n Ember lets go.” I take in a big deep breath. When I pass through the gate I feel a weird feeling like something just left my body. Ember walks through right behind me and she shutters a bit. I look back at she and shiver just like her. We are in this tunnel of some sort. But it doesn’t feel like it. It’s all white and it’s almost like I’m walking on a cloud. I can see the end from where we are but it looks far. So we start walking. Later, when we get to the end. There is a gate. It’s very big. We try to push it open and it doesn’t. We try pulling and it doesn’t move.
We hear a voice. It’s the same voice that talked to us the other two times.
“Great job you two. I never thought you would actually make it here alive.”
“Thanks?” I respond, “we want to know why you wanted us to come here.”
“You know your goblin friend.” He actually was a puppet of me. And yes everything he said was true. I am just a beast. Trying to find love.”
“Oh stop that you. You are no better than the criminals of the world. You should rot in the pits of hell.”
“John,” Ember whispers to me, “ let’s hear him out he know how to get us home you know.”
“Ok fine let’s hear him out.” Come in children let’s talk.” We walk in the gate and to our surprise there’s a human. It’s the first one we have seen in almost a year. Even the person that we saw right when we got here was wasn't human.
“Ok, well I lied about one thing. I don’t have 8 legs or whatever I’m human. And there are no other humans on the planet except me. So I want the girl.”
“What! You want to repopulate with me. Hell no.”
“Fine then you can’t go home.” Ember goes up to him and says, “You just made a huge mistake mister.” She takes out her sword and tell us and where we can go home or I will slit you into two pieces.”
“Ok! Fine go straight until you get to the door open the door and you will be home.”
We walk for like a mile when we finally reach the door we open it and we see a totally normal place. We are both so happy. We run in the door. And we see everybody. We both kneel down and just start sobbing tears of joy.
