Characteristics and intelligence of Cuttlefish

I freeze this photo on one of the aquariums at the Marine and Fisheries Government Service in one of the research programs carried out by the Lhokseumawe Aceh Indonesia Marine and Fisheries Service.

Incidentally, I am a member of a team formed by Panglima Laot Lhok Pusong Aceh. I as a team member along with colleagues will examine all the characteristics of the squid itself and will be poured in the coral reef animal surgery.

However, in this post does not discuss research activities but what will be discussed is their characteristics in terms of intelligence and cuttlefish techniques in deceiving enemies and also other matters relating to it.

Before we explore further this one sea animal, do you know this animal? If you live in the coast or your profession as a fisherman, or you as a fish trader, you will certainly understand this one animal. Moreover, you yourself are a person who likes to consume it, of course very understand it.

Maybe you yourself are a squid eater among your family, but did you know that it is not only delicious food but also one of the intelligent animals when facing their enemies in the ocean by releasing weapons in the form of black liquid that can outwit its enemies.

It is scientifically said that the Cuttlefish species is one of the many animals included in the Sepiida order. Then the squid also entered into the Class Cephalopoda, like octopus squid, and nautilus

There is a difference between Sotong and other ordinary squid or octopus, cuttlefish has a unique internal shell that is embedded in the body on the back, or cuttlebone, and therefore Sotong is not called squid. This is distinguished between Sotong and squid, in terms of Cangkang. Whereas ordinary squid in general do not have a Shell like in Sotong. However, regardless of the name of the fish, the squid is not a fish but a mollusk that lives together with other fish at the bottom of the sea.

Whereas the characteristics of the Cuttlefish themselves have 8 arms as well as squid and octopus, the Cuttlefish have suction-shaped lumps on each of their arms. Then besides having an arm also has a tantacle which is also located close to his face.

The tantacle itself is used together with its hands which are always used to catch prey that has been sprayed by its black liquid (bajaa), so that their victims lose their direction in seeing. In general, prey are small fish, crabs, and other animals smaller than their size.

Cuttlefish have varying sizes and differ according to the types available. In my experience, the author has found several squid species such as the Cuttle tiger, Cuttle white patches, Cuttle cobs, varying shapes and sizes.

The size of the body if it is in shallow water then the size is 30 cm and if it is in the ocean there is a fishing FAD so the size of 50 to 55 cm.

As mentioned above that this marine animal is a very intelligent marine animal, this is supported by a larger brain with a component of cells that is always updated every day. Well ... To prove the intelligence of the brain, the explanation will be mentioned in future posts.
