Hi Steemers!
Today in the United States we celebrate our fallen today. Sadly, this day has fallen to the ritualized grilling of families and endless drinking. While writing this I am mindful that some are from different parts of the world.
My Grandfather served in World War 2. I often needed to write about local heroes in school, and would ask him about war stories. His response was anyone who sees war doesn't want to relive it. My grandfather was a standup guy. He taught me so many different things through my childhood to early adulthood. It was a short time before he passed from this life, that he began to share some of these stories with me.
I think out of all the stories he recounted, I learned the basic things that make life important. Namely, nobody wanted to see another man lose his life. That was someones father brother or son. That diplomacy between men should always come first, when this fails everything goes down the drain. Powerful men want war not because of differences, rather for profit. One person can really change the world, this starts with "you." He taught me that I should make it a goal in my lifetime, to ensure that the right people eventually take office and stop the non-stop wars.
Looking back at him and memories of him, I began to see that perhaps his vision and my vision are one and the same. We can find other ways of profiting rather then sending our loved ones off to die. I believe he would be elated today, to see block-chain technology exist and flourish. That way mankind has a way of reversing the terrible things it has done to itself. Its a way many can work together and increase the sociological-economic quality of life it may bring.
While I do not agree with the endless aggression that we the US rage, the wars that have destroyed countless lives. I do believe that no matter where you are, remember those whom believe they are doing the right thing by serving a country. Respect their countless sacrifices and take nothing for granted. Because they believe that you where worth fighting for.
Lastly, teach your children to love more then to hate.
Thanks for reading my few thoughts.
