How is everyone doing? I hope you are all well and always happy. It’s great to see you all again. I’m back with a story about my visit to a lovely café that serves delicious drinks.
This time, I’m visiting another café—a lovely, cozy one. Kopte—that’s the name of the café.
I visited this café in the morning, so it seemed quiet, although customers kept arriving as time went on. It is a simple yet cozy café—a spacious, cool, and clean spot.
The tables and chairs are arranged neatly and attractively, with ample spacing between them—a setup that certainly enhances visitor comfort. The décor is simple and understated, yet still looks beautiful.
The menu selection here isn't very extensive; there are a few options for coffee, tea, and other beverages, as well as toasted bread. The café's main offerings are ‘kopi tarik’ (pulled coffee) and ‘teh tarik’ (pulled tea).
Kopi Tarik Malaka
The drink I ordered was Kopi Tarik Malaka—a coffee with milk and palm sugar. They don't use a coffee or espresso machine; kopi tarik is a traditional Acehnese milk coffee prepared by repeatedly pouring—or "pulling"—the mixture between two cups until it becomes frothy.
This coffee tastes delicious—bittersweet and creamy. It has a simple, enjoyable flavor, made with quality coffee and palm sugar that is sweet without any bitterness. Even though it isn't made with a machine, it still tastes great.
Kaya Butter Toast
Kaya butter toast—or toasted bread with kaya (coconut jam)—is absolutely delicious. The bread is toasted until crispy and spread with butter and tasty kaya jam; the combination of sweet and salty flavors is wonderful. Thanks to the butter, the kaya jam seems to melt in your mouth as you eat it.
This is the best toast I’ve ever had—absolutely delicious and perfect for breakfast. Coffee and toast make a perfect combination. I think it would be even better with hot coffee, though, so I’ll definitely come back to this café to order hot coffee and toast.
