There's this meme/tweet making the rounds on social media that asked, "what's your contribution to society?" and this person gave a response saying, "I never ask questions that prolongs the lecturers stay in class."
When I saw that reply, I guffawed. I could not agree any less. In fact, I supported that with a crate of Coca-Cola.
The society, this country, Nigeria does not give us(her citizens) credit enough. Because the things we do that add value to society might seem little but if you weigh them, they cover a large scale
Just like that tweet responder, ten minutes to the end of class period, I do not ask questions. Even when the lecturer asks, "do you understand?," whether I do or not, I answer in the positive. Okay, let me be truthful, I do not ask any questions at all. You don't trust these lecturers. Rather than answer your question, they'd use you to make fun.
But then, also, I sit beside overzealous student(s) and hold their hands lest they raise it up to signify that they have a question to ask. And it's common knowledge that one question leads to a next. Do you know how far that goes. That's is big a save for humanity.
There are other things I do as well and I hope the Nigerian government that sees us as lazy and unproductive will see this and give us our flowers....
I never forward that "Jesus is coming soon, send if you love Him and want to go to heaven.." text to 20 people. That nonsense text deals with our emotions. You'd just be caught between choosing hell and heaven and I'm helping people maintain good mental health, you see?
I pray to God every morning, I bath, brush my teeth, bath and use nice smelling deodorants before going out so others can live. Because, the body odor ravaging the whole place these days is more widespread than Corona was. Imagine getting on a bus with living beings and wondering if what you're perceiving is the smell of decaying meat. Yuck!
I never ever overdo also. I never told a lecturer that he gave us assignment when he apparently forgot about it and is about to exit the class. It's not like I don't do mine o but I just like nature to do its thing.
Very importantly, i also do not call the almighty garri(cassava flakes), groundnut and sugar by the names; groceries, floating berries and sweetener respectively. I respect that office. And because we were told that soaking garri makes one not to see clearly, I always use my eyedrop after soaking it to avoid see-finish
The list is endless, I promise you.
We're all really trying for society but we just are not rated.
Annoying but we will continue doing the good works.
Thanks for stopping by.
