Like my sister would say, "I think I smell Christmas already." My environment already gives me the vibe.
It's about that season that of the year. The time that doubles for a holiday and also for the Christmas celebration.
December is about my most anticipated month of every year.
The time some people either just want to rest from all of the labour and busyness of the year, while others want to feast and merry. It's normal for people in my country to travel back to loved knes. After so long of not seeing one another, it just is perfect time to meet, catch up and enjoy the warmth of family. It's overall a good time for everyone.
I am always excited about the holiday, about Christmas. It may just be my favourite time of the year. After a long time, it's perfect to feast, have some fun and relax. To unwind and re-strategize too. The holiday should begin in about two weeks but in the past few weeks, I found myself going online and checking for travel tickets. My parents have already began calling to remind us to visit home. They can't wait. Usually the celebrations hold in my village but it wouldn't be same this time around. I long so much to go back home and see my family. I can't wait to be reunited with them. Evidently, my plan is to head back home the day after holiday is announced. No time.
I always spend special holidays with family, it's a ritual for all of us to be together. Coming from a Christian home, we always celebrate the season.
This Christmas holiday is for family time, all of us bonding over bowls of rice and stew, trading tales and experience, sharing laughter. Christmas is me and my brothers sipping drinks while watching the competitive EPL fixtures on boxing day. It is me watching my parents see WWE on TV while I giggle over their funny and dramatic reactions. It is messing up my sister's hair or a place she only just organized and have her chase me around the house. What do you imagine will replace this and bring same excitement?
I look forward to the many delicacies that will be prepared. It's a time for merriment and that's what we're going to do.
My time is mostly spent outdoors, a few times I go out to the field to play football with my guys from the hood. It's refreshing. I'm not very sure but I may go out to visit a couple of friends I haven't seen in a while.
Going back home, I'd be bearing gifts. Over here, no one really cares so much for the gifts, it's enough for everyone that you show up. My major plans are to make the season as excitingly unforgettable and special for everyone in whatever capacity that I can. I'll spend prudently but still spoil my people silly. I can't help it. It's default.
Thanks for stopping by.
