Taxes as well know are part of what keeps the economic of a country going, so we could see tax as one major avenue the government relied on for the purpose of supporting and maintaining Social Amenities. Amenities like government built schools 馃彨, road repairs from time to time, hospitals 馃彞 for health care purposes, and other services the citizens can enjoy.

In my country Nigeria 馃嚦馃嚞, tax is regarded as a very big issue because most businesses pay tax, 8:00 - 5:00 white collar job workers pay tax through P.A. Y. E known as (Pay As You Earn) and even market women pay tax through the Levy the Local Government collects from visiting them monthly.

Tax laws and rules are one that every individual is aware off, except minors and students, until they are in the proper timing. But religious places like the church 鉀笍, mosques 馃晫 , temple and others has always been exempted with the beliefs that they are not business places but a place for prayers and worship. And apart from prayer and worship, this institution are not established like organizations, instead they do more charity by helping the needy in various ways.

Should Churches, Mosque And Others Pay Tax Then?

The raising believe that churches and other worship places make so much money through gifts from people, large sums of cash donations, through crusade offerings and more and for this reason should pay tax to support the government for the need of social amenities.

I see this controversial issue as one that needs proper understanding , whereby institutions of worship should be considered to pay 馃挵 some certain amount of tax ratio different from that of other institutions like corporate bodies, banks , oil companies and others whose main aim of establishing is for the purpose of profit making.

I mean the government should not compare places of worship to other bodies of organizations or institutions as the church, mosques, temples, all dependent on gifts and donations. This makes all places of worship not to be seen as a rich organization that has lots of funds. So laws deciding tax should be looked into when considering places of worship.

Accountability:

I see the government not doing the right thing by wanting places of worship to declare what they are worth because these places carries out lots of charity work. Giving aims to people, even as they receive, so you can not want to know what comes into the church, mosques , others and what goes out. All that is needed is for the government to see this body as a non-profit making organization that should be taxed with a certain law and rules set in place.

In simple understand, the government should set out rules that will govern the worship places on matters of tax payments.
