The last of the spring flowers are blooming this week and I took a few more photos to capture them before they are gone. The above photo is of Corydalis, and it is a small plant with the brightest yellow flowers, so cute.
Many of the following plants are growing in shady locations under trees that line the western and eastern sides of my yard.
One of my favorite shade plants are in the fern family. I have plenty of them growing throughout the shade gardens. They add a peaceful vibe in my opinion.
Next to the ostrich ferns is a small clump of painted ferns. It is the only spot that these have survived in over the years.
Fernleaf bleeding heart, sweet little plant that is so different than the one next to it. This one is a slow growing plant compared to its neighbor.
This native plant, Wild Geranium has shown up on the North side of the property the last two years. I looked up the plant and found that it has medicinal benefits, of course I picked some and have them drying.
This Magician Deutzia shrub is near the Koussa Dogwood and gets some sun and part-shade. I adore the little pink blossoms every spring and the honeybees love it too.
On the eastern side of my yard, I have a rock garden where 2 Lilac trees reside along with a Korean Lilac shrub which is in full bloom this week. None of them get too much sun due to the large Silver Maple tree that overshadows this bed.
This was the last garden I put in over 20 years ago, and the shrub is huge now. Soon the spring Anemones will cover all the soil with white flowers. I can see where they are starting to emerge.
As I'm doing this post the rain has stopped, and oh my, I believe the sun may be trying to break through the clouds, finally.
